TJC_fan
Which former or current driver was/is known as "The King"? Let's just say that he won a lot of races. No, it wasn't Tony Stewart ... voted as such by "Teen Magazine"!!:banging:
Guest Daf
That would be, unless I'm mistaken, Richard Petty - with 200 (+) wins? What driver wore wingtips, while racing, right up to his last race in 2002 - 25+ years? Daf
RiderDrumMajor
Darrel Waltrip? That's a good question..I'm just guessing.
Guest Daf
Actually... it's Dave Marcis http://www.marcisracing.com/faq.htm ;) Who was Penske Racing's first driver?
HankTheCowDog
The first Penske driver I can remember is Mark Donohue. If that is correct: Mark Martin currently holds the record with 34 NASCAR Cup wins without winning a season championship. Who previously held the record at 33? ExTiger87
Hankthecowdogs answer is Glen "Fireball" Roberts The first race at Darlington Speedway was the 1950 Southern 500. Won by Johnny Mantz. What was interesting about his win that day??
ExTiger87
Nascar trivia must be just ho-hum..... Anyhow, the answer is that he raced the whole race on the same set of tires...Thus, allowing him to maintain a huge pit advantage over everyone else in the field... twosportumpire
It was called Grand National first from 1950-1970, Winston came aboard in 1971 and it was known as the Winston Grand National Series from 1971 thru 1985. From 1986 to 2003 the series was known as the Winston Cup Series, after after Winston/RJR opted out of their 5 year deal with 4 years to go, NASCAR signed Nextel for 10 years and the series is known as the Nextel Cup Series almost right but they raced 2 time in Texas 1971 once in Houston won by Bobby Allison and once in Texas World Speedway won by Richard Petty so those would have been the 1st Winston Grand National Series races in Texas
