ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Outfielder Adam Hyzdu, third baseman/catcher Jamie Burke and catcher Nick Trzesniak agreed to minor league contracts with the Texas Rangers and were invited Thursday to the team's Major League spring training camp

Right-handers Chris Baker and Shane Bazzell also agreed to Minor League contracts.

Hyzdu, a first-round draft pick in 1990 by San Francisco, split 2005 between four teams in the Boston and San Diego organizations. He has a .219 average in 219 Major League games with Pittsburgh, Boston and San Diego.

Burke has played professionally for 13 seasons but has appeared in just 73 games in the Majors, compiling a .328 batting average for the Los Angeles Angels and Chicago White Sox. He appeared in just one game for Chicago this year and hit .264 with a career-high 10 home runs and 53 RBIs in 102 games at Triple-A Charlotte.

Trzesniak was drafted by San Diego with the 51st pick in 1999 and hasn't yet played in the Major Leagues.

You are right, they only go thru 2004. Guess they are waiting on one of us to help fund them for another year so they can include the '05 stats soon.........

Still, a low .200 hitter and 33 years old............what do they see in him ??

He probably pitched some back when he was in little league, so the Rangers think he might have a chance to break in the rotation.
