I think Gilmer will beat Tatum and Tatum may have some close games in their district. In the end they will probably go pretty deep into the playoffs and could very well make it 2 in a row. I don't think tatum is weak, just that Gilmer will be very stout this year.;)

I don't believe you are correct there eagle, the last time Celina was in AAA, they were a top 10 team and went pretty far into the playoffs. The team they had last season was the strongest team they have ever had according their own assessments. They would have won either division of AAA last season.

The last time Celina was in 3-A Daingerfield beat them in the second round of the play-offs 21 to 20. The second year Gilmer beat them in the second round of the play-offs 45 to 22.

Gilmer's fearless QB threw 5 INTs to us last year in the playoffs when he was a Canton Eagle, I don't mind seein him throw the bombs, our DBs start pickin 'em outta the air like duck hunters. Gilmer's gonna be nasty though, but we are too. I guess we'll see how it goes in week 2, gonna be a good game. I'm interested in seein how our scrimage with Kilgore goes, thats a bold move by coach Evans.

In East Texas, the obvious choice is Tatum. The other 3A teams that dropped down (D'field, N Boston, J'son) are "expected" to roll through their districts, but that bunch couldn't, or didn't, beat Paul Pewitt last year. I look for D'field, with Pewitt in the mix, in that district. Then J'son should win their district, but I think they are looking for teams to lay down and they'll end up in a dogfight to win the thing. Look for Harleton and Big Sandy-maybe N. Diana, to give them trouble.

Jefferson may have changed, but we have beat them rather easily the last 2 years. I like Jefferson and wish them much luck. Tatum may win it all, but I still think this is going to be a case of counting the chicks a bit early. Injuries can change your outlook in a hurry. D'field is supposed to be down on talent this year, but I don't buy that for a second. That program has for the last 30 years down played their talent in the offseason and all of sudden come Sept. their are loaded. If we can make the playoffs, this year will be a success. Ought to be a another great year for Football.;)

We didn't beat everybody. Harrison, Williams, and Hall can't be replaced. On the upside we do have some very good kids coming back which include an all-district DT and two all-state players one at DB and the other at both C-NT. Jefferson and New Boston both made some noise at the end of regular season, with Jefferson going a couple of rounds into the playoffs. I would imagine both schools are going to be rather strong this year, with Jefferson having a much better chance at winning their district. IMHO:thumbsup:

I understand Pewitt has some coming back, but not in the key positions that can carry the team, like they did this year. That is why life in Naples will be much different without Harrison and Williams.

We will be fine. The system is still in place and Franklin, Betts, and Teeter all saw alot of action last year. 16 game seasons give everyone alot of extra practice. I don't think that can be discounted. Are we as good as last year, no way. That team was special! But, we are still better than most.;)

I only meant that J'son feels they may be intimidating to their district foes, being one of the larger teams in 2a, and they will just lay down in a tight game. The Bulldogs need to take advantage of dropping down, get workman-like, and just "bulldoze" the competition. I don't think it will happen...

Injuries will hurt a lot of the smaller teams but one thing that we will have in 2A that we didnt have in 3A is depth. 2 years ago injuries killed us against Gilmer when Stephen Hodge played with a torn MCL and Lennon Creer played with a twisted ankle and Daylon McCoy was out with a broken thumb, I'm not sayin we woulda won, but it woulda made a difference. Now we have 2 top notch RBs with 2 or 3 back ups that can start on several 2A teams. We have WRs by the boatload, but the QB spot is questionable. If we lose Cashas Pollard we might have trouble replacing him, I hope he doesnt go down. The defense is solid with Darnius Moore returning aswell as Eric Kirkland at middle linebacker which has reached 6'3 207 lbs over the summer. I aint counting chickens too early, but I am countin Eagles. And by my calculation, things are lookin pretty good from my point of view. There is always a prediction of which cinderella team will knock off the favorite, its just small talk. When its kick off time, we'll which part of the small talk has validity to it.

Start making room for another trophy. Good luck.

Sounds like Tatum might be counting them eagles before they can fly,But they do return alot of talent, you have to give them that, if they play the way i think and know they can, Tatum may just add to the throphy case.

15 games vs 16 games. anytime you can win a trophy and play one less game it is the way to go. NB is the biggest in our district and will take the big school most likely, Pewitt and D'field ( both schools have won it all) should take the other two spots. Tatum has big school, and will face the biggest, not nescessarily the best. What big school won its district last year? It was not Pewitt, Mart,Garrison, Childress, or Celina. All of these were small schools that won their district. Pewitt would have rolled to the big school championship, if Waskom had only beaten HS. ;)
