Anyone know the exact numbers? Just curious.

It's always has been a hard fought battle year in and year out. Kilgore vs Jacksonville has started to become a rivalry ever since the 2003 realignment. I don't think Kilgore has seen Jacksonville has true rival.. I mean the last time the Indians beat Kilgore was a 17-14 contest in 03. Kilgore-Henderson is starting to become watered down. Marshall has been mad at us since they were beat 28-27 in OT by missing that 2 pt. conversation. Hard for a winning program to find a rival when they WIN a lot. Man your pretty confident lets see how they do this year cool with you? Why I'm confident is because those kids have learned from old players and coaches to not talk trash and not be cocky. That same attitude has helped me with regards to boxing and all other things I do. It's a new generation out there now for the Bulldogs but, they have had some role models like Eddie Jones, Wayne Daniels, Lon Roberts, and the 05 Class to remember. It gives them the fact that they have to step up and fill those shoes. Those kids are going to be alright. Think about this too... All these big time programs such as Ennis, Gilmer, now Tatum and especially SLC don't mention anything about a rival. They also have the common element of winning games. Therfore I conclude: It's hard to find a rival when you WIN a lot.
Rhino2K
New Braunfels vs. Seguin is supposedly the longest and oldest continuous rivalry starting in 1928.
chase.colston
Unless I'm blind, no one's mentioned John Tyler vs. Robert E. Lee. Two high schools in Tyler, both 5A, all kinds of talent coming through each school every year ... not too bad of a rivalry. In East Texas as a whole, though, I don't think you could pick out a bigger game than Longview vs. Marshall, especially when they were in the same 5A district. ShakeTiller
New Boston and DeKalb have been playing each other for a LONG time. Probably one of the oldest rivalries in the state.
ridgemont4
I would have to Gilmer vs. Tatum is becoming a rivalry, kinda like OU vs Texas, cuz Tatum just cant beat Gilmer, we all saw what happened when they didnt have to play Gilmer

1BigLonghorn
Texarkana Texas High vs. Texarkana Arkansas High. You have to be 18 years old to buy eggs or toilet paper for the week before the game !!! Texarkana vs Texarkana LE used to be a pretty good one, but LE wont schedule the Tigers anymore. I still wish THS was in the district with Marshall, Kilgore, PT, etc. The Marshall / THS game would have been a very even matchup year after year....I wish we could replace our Atlanta or Waxahachie game with the Mavs.
Mavchamp
I think Marshall and Texas High would be great rivals. But with our district, we only get THREE non district games. Longview is a lock on one of them. That leaves only 2 games. That makes for difficult scheduling. While we were still in Region III (04 and 05) it would have been a great time to play each other. Now that we're both in Region II.... maybe not such a good idea because of the high probability of playing each other in the first round of the playoffs. Marshall and TxH high have about 75 years of history between each other. Most of it as district rivals. I'd like to see it reborn..... but with the short non district schedule... and the first round match up probability, I don't see it happening. It would be better than playing Louisiana schools for sure!

NDNJOE
When I played I could not stand Henderson or Kilgore. Never lost to either one of them in my time at Jacksonville, so I guess you could say that they weren't rivals because we won alot.

raider24
Sabine and Bullard started developing a heated rivalry in the year 1998, spawned by a Bullard Coach who reportedly damaged and vandalized the Cardinal pressbox and locker room. Then, all of the sudden UIL yanked Bullard out of the district & the rivalry quickly died. Bullard's players actually rushed the Sabine sideline in 1996 - at the end of the 3rd qtr., in Bullard, Sabine led 32-0, and then, the stadium lights magically went out. That's when the frustrated and winless Panther players charged our sideline wanting to fight. It was the last game of the season and both teams were winless going into that one. Anybody else remember that? I almost got the feeling it was rigged. The home team wouldn't finish the game. Bullard only beat Sabine in football one time that I can remember, maybe in 2000? (Sabine actually had to forfeit the 1998 win Thanks to Gaddis from Spring Hill) Guess what? The 2 schools play each other this fall in non-district ...ought to be a good one. We know the rest of the state probably won't be watching this one, but I will.
