Rhino2K
Here's what happened to last weeks' top five in Class 2A: #1 Newton lost to Silsbee, 27-23 #s 2 (Tatum) and 3 (Jefferson) were idle #4 Lexington lost to an unranked team #5 Blanco hammered Granger 29-7 Tatum is 2-1, but got demolished by Gilmer a few weeks ago. Newton is now 2-1. Jefferson remains undefeated at 3-0. Blanco is 4-0. Gonna be intesting how the pollsters interpret this. ;)

nsumusician
Lexington lost to 3A Cameron Yoe. I don't think that'll effect them too much. Yoe is a decent football program. They are in a TOUGH district though. I think it'll go like this: Tatum Jefferson Newton Lexington Blanco
ed3
Tatum is 2-1, but got demolished by Gilmer a few weeks ago. ;) That will get the Tatum fans on your rear son.

FBFan
demolish is a bit harsh. let's not forget that gilmer is #1 3A. tatum #1 followed by jefferson, blanco, and newton.
setxsports
Yea Newton is still very good. They play a big 3A School in Silsbee who has a very good team this year. Newton will be ok. They'll get beat up by Carthage this week but they'll be fine.
groundupfosho87
1. Tatum 2. Jefferson 3. Newton
Tatum_DirtyBird
Demolished??? OK, we lost, so what. Have ya'll played Gilmer? Didn't think so. I still contest the call on Tatum's interception, but anyway. Scroll up and count how many Tatums you see, nuff said.
pyrosmutti
Tatum should be #1 until they lose to a 2a team. They shouldnt drop just for losing to an extremely tough Gilmer team. I play for Jefferson and we havent had much competition so far (60-21 at pittsburgh, 62-0 against Sabine, and 44-0 against San Augustine). The way i see Jefferson's district isnt going to b much competition either. 1. Tatum 2. Jefferson 3. Newton
Guest TtownEagle803
He can say demolished by Gilmer all he wants.....nobody in 2A wants any of Tatum, I promise. Well, I'll re-phrase that, everybody in 2A wants some of them, but once they get 'em, they wont know what to do with 'em. #1 Either Tatum or Jefferson.....averaging 50 something points looks good on paper....too bad Jefferson wont get enough tough competion to prepare for the playoffs and will be sitting at home watching the playoffs by round 1 or 2. #2 Either Tatum or Jefferson #3 Newton - Silsbee is a tough 3A squad...they wont drop far #4 Blanco #5 New Boston Lexington will drop 6 or 7 spots after getting beat by an un-ranked program Marlin should be climbing up the polls pretty soon..they're salty

By the time playoffs come around, Tatum will not have played any strong competition in 11 weeks. That might even things up. Of course, they both have to get past the first round before they can hook up.
bigeddy
I still think Tatum should be #1....So what if they lost to Gilmer...Gilmer is a top ranked 3A school.....I don't care if they are 2-1....They would be any 2a school that they face... and most 3a schools also....Jefferson is overrated!!!! I don't even like tatum that much, but its the truth.

Tatum_DirtyBird
I don't think 20 points constitutes the word demolished, but anyway, it's Tatum's world, you're just a squirrel.......
Rabfan
you gotta give tatum the nod in 2A until something comes along to prove otherwise. they are the defending 3A state champions and returned a whole bunch of their team. jefferson has got a hot team right now and has a ton of good athletes but tatum is still the team to beat until further notice. TexasGolfCoach
Tatum is probably the best in 2A. I haven't seen Jefferson, but everybody is talking them waaaaay up. New Boston---whatever---they might make the playoffs, but they are not a top 10 team. Newton will be there in the end--too many athletes. Great match-up would be Tatum and Newton--both defending state champions from a year ago.
luvhoops34
Tatum should still be #1 until they lose to a 2A team.
Old Eagle
Newton beat Jasper but Jasper is also 0-3. Newton lost to Silsbee but they are a 3-A play-off team from last year and have an enrolment close to 4-A. Tatum has played Gilmer and no one else of any significance. Looking foreward to the Tatum Newton match up.

TexRob61
i still think its way too early to read much into polls. the AP poll is done with people who dont know alot about some of the teams they vote for. how much does a west texas writer know about tatum or jefferson except for what they read of scores. i have no problem with jefferson being #1 since they are undefeated. down the road is when i worry about polls...say after the last state final in december.
