SAPACK1
Coach Barbay will have the Eagles pumped and ready after coming off the loss to Silsbee. Carthage had better be ready, you can bet that Newton will be.
geauxtiger3
Newton has a good team over there and I think they could win this game if they play great in all the area's that are crucial in a football game. they will attack when they see the opportunity.. and if Carthage is taking this game as like a "bye" week.. they might be regretting that saturday morning during film. Go get em Dawgs!

Depth matters.....Beckville prolly fields a bigger team than Huntington does, you cant use Beckville/Huntington as justification when talking about depth. Eizek
Why doesn't Huntington join fellow Angelina County schools like Pollok Central and Huntington and just not have a football program? The Lufkin Panthers are kings of the county, and why a 3A program in a town of 3,000 people four miles from a city of 35,000 people can't beat Beckville or most any other 1A teams is strange and almost frightening. I mean, what was going through those kids' heads. They had to think that this was their best opportunity at avoiding 0-10. Wow, is all I have to say. Wow. darkerbeer
Newton will most like whip the britches off Carthage. Coach Barbay has a solid group of salty athletes coming off a close loss to a team that's better than Carthage. Newton is angry and will take it out on the Panola County boys. KirtFalcon
It wasn't too long ago when they were a 3A team that Newton was giving some 4A and even 5A teams all they wanted. They used to regularly thrash Nacogdoches and I believe even played teams like LaMarque, West Orange Stark, Jasper and Beaumont pretty tough. I don't think they will be intimidated by Carthage. Their state championship team from last season would have given Tatum all they wanted as well. I wouldn't get too over confident if I were the Carthage Bulldogs. It wouldn't be a surprise to me to see Newton winning this game.
