Tatorhead
I don't think Tatum will just blow out Garrison. I think Tatum will win but not big. Just because you dropped to 2A doesn't mean you won't have to play good teams. Garrison is always good. Tatum by a little.
bigdawg16
Tatum wins...and most everyone knows it spare a few " kids " that just found this message board a few weeks ago. Pisswilly
No doubt. It could have some to do with a power plant around Tatum.

That is what I was saying. Sorry I went over your head.
Eizek
The town existed before the power plant, and so did the families of the athletes. TXU has brought facilities and the resources to make Tatum one of the top districts, academically, in East Texas. But really, the population is only 450 more than what it was in 1970 — the plant was built in 1977.
Pisswilly
and you are saying that none of that money helped the athletic program, just academics? I would venture to say that it helped with the athletic facilities that you now have.

Only 450 more since 1970 ! :w00t: During that same time, Garrison's population has dropped from between 900-1,000 total down to 844. The point is during this period, Tatum's population has increased by more than 50% of Garrison's total population . . . mostly due to the increased jobs resulting from the power plant TXU. In other words, Tatum has seen very significant growth since the 70s while Garrison has slightly declined. It's not a knock against Tatum, I wish Garrison had seen the same type of growth. It just makes it tough but not impossible for schools like Garrison, Timpson, etc. to compete with schools twice their size or larger. It's the same thing Tatum faced when they were in 3A playing schools with 700-800 enrollment. I think 2A and 3A classifications are impacted the worse with the enrollment ranges in their classifications. I'm not making excuses, just stating the obvious. Tatum is a huge challenge for Garrison but not one to be a afraid of. From 2001-2003, the shoe would have been on the other foot between these two teams. Over time, the balance of power could shift again, it always does with either reclassification realignment or graduation. Good luck to both teams. Tatum 65 Garrison 7 It depends on when Tatum decides to call off the dogs.
Guest TtownEagle803
I'll admit that the revenue off of the power plant gave us that million dollar football field...and that 2 million dollar basketball court....and the consession stands....and the press box....and the bathrooms...and the new upgrades to Tatum High School....and well you get the picture. Maybe if Martin Lake woulda been near ya'lls city yall would have benifited from it....but its near our city. Isn't our fault the power plant was placed so close to us....but it puts money in our facitlities and thats just how it goes. So what if Tatum has the best facilities. The Tampa Bay Bucaneers have what i would consider one of the best stadiums in the NFL and it doesnt seem to make them a powerhouse every year....in fact they've been struggling. We dont have a great football program just because we have money to get great facilities....we have a great football team because of the great players that live in our school district. Tatum_DirtyBird
Well said TtownEagle. Take Spring Hill for example, very rich school, but does not dominate. It's not the money you green eyed monster, it's the athletes. If you would like, we could see about going and playing in your stadium. The out-come would be the same, then what would be your excuse. Don't get mad cause we have a nice facility, if we didn't spend our money, ya'll might get it... lol... All in all, it's not about the facility, it's all about HEART & DETERMINATION, and Tatum is full of both.:harhar:
Pisswilly
Never said it was. Someone mentioned times have changed since the 70s and I was just agreeing. Get the chip off your shoulder. We can play wherever you like. More than likely you will come out on top but if you want to talk HEART & DETERMINATION, maybe thats why Garrison has been to the playoffs so many times. I think it is called TRADITION:mf_tongue:

I think it is called TRADITION:mf_tongue: Yeah....we know all about tradition....and traditionally we usually always win at home, especially homecoming. We havent lost at home since Evans took the helm at Tatum, infact we've only lost a total of three games since he took the helm. I understand that Garrison is a tradition rich football program, and I respect that. But.....we're just too much for Garrison.
Tatum_DirtyBird
When your team is RANKED #1, you are going to have a chip on your shoulder. In case you didn't know, having a chip on your shoulder means you have something to prove. When you are RANKED #1, you have something to prove, that you are #1. Being RANKED #1 is just something to brag about, beating Garrison is just something to laugh about.

The 9th grade team stayed home and played Joaquin's JV they also won. 14 to 8. that 9th grade has some real talented players on it. Probably 1/2 as many players standing on the sideline as came out for football in 4 grades in Bulldog land. No need to cry garrison there are two more teams going in the playoffs try for one of them.
