poisoned10
According to your stats, all he needs is 2,794 more yards to tie the state record. Since he has over 1,100 yards through 4 games, he should be able to surpass the record. At the pace he is on right now averaging 295.5 yards passing per game, after 10 games he should have 2,955 yards passing before the start of the playoffs. He SHOULD be able to pass the record with no problems.
star
Only if you use Gilmer math! Here is how I figure it: 03 = 1,651 04 = 2,629 05 = 4,255 06 = 3,000 (I rounded 295.5 to 300) Total = 11,535 Record = 12,511 Shortage = 976 He should break the record at the start of the 2nd quarter in the 4th round of the playoffs. Nut, I think you double counted 06.
cockdiesel
No, PNutz math was correct he only mispoke. I understood his point quite well. Instead of saying "after ten games" he meant to say "in ten more games he should have 2,955 yds." He has the record with an additional game to spare. For the sake of drama and story line, I would love to see him break the record vs. Giddings in the Div I state championship game. Also, PNutz I love were your mind is at. Lets talk about other potential records this season. Gilmer as a team. Most points scored -season. G.J.Kinne. Touchdown passes -season. Curtis Brown. Touchdown receptions -season. This post should stir up the haters.

TOPS1435
Thanks, Smoaky, for the update. It sure will save a lot of research time. I am going to print this out and take it with me to the games, so when someone asks a question, I will appear to be a really smart aleck. More seriously, Gary Joe was along the sidelines last Friday and wondering the record for TD passes in a game (9) for Class 3A after G.J. got his 7th. I will print up a copy to give him the next time I see him. When Baylor was at Washington STate, he missed Gilmer's game. Otherwise, he hits the road to where the Buckeyes are playing. poisoned10
What does it matter who walks what sidelines? What does that have to do with Kinne's stats?
Smoaky
Cut the paranoia on "do other dad's get to walk the sideline"? Gary Joe is a college football coach, and ALL of them are on the sidelines watching recruits, prospects...that's just normal protocol--- Smoaky
SL1KK
Kinne and the Buckeyes should break records, after Atlanta they won't play another real (3A) team until the playoffs...Defensively that may be the weakest district in state...Gilmer will hang 50-60 a night easy. nsumusician
Kinne moves into 4th over after tonights performance. He only needs 2462 yards to break the record. If he wants to get it down before the play-offs (I don't think it'll happen), he's got some work ahead of him. I think he'll get it in the 3rd round or so. CasualObserver70
How many 300 yard games will Kinne have in district? Probably not many. The teams in the district are pretty weak. Kinne will ride bench a lot in 2nd half and Gilmer will probably work with a short field a lot. Gilmer might score 50 every week, but if you're starting field position is the opponents 35, the stats aren't going to be that great. There is no doubt however that he is an amazing quarterback. He'll get the record if Gilmer stays in the playoffs. I hope Jack Ashley and Curtis Brown are back in time for L-E.

Old Eagle
This is not the case at our stadium. College coaches get in the game free and can sit in the stands or in the press box but not on the field. There is to much bad stuff going on to open the side lines to anybody and everybody. The college coaches get the films and they should get what they need off of them. Colt McCoy's dad was in the stands today - not on the field. Colt McCoy's dad was in the stands today - not on the field. so are you saying that college scouts/ coaches should not be allowed on the field? i know that there were scouts on the field during the gilmer/ tatum game. also, someone please correct me if i am wrong, isnt gj senior the linebacker coach at baylor? and isnt debo from gilmer going to be a linebacker at baylor? there could be more to this than just a dad on the field... College coaches are there to OFFER YOUR KIDS FREE COLLEGE EDUCATIONS! Not sure if they had tuition back in your day, however, today these places called "college" are QUITE expensive. Really sorry to hear that having these potential role models, offering your kids tens of thousands of $$$'s in tuition, standing there on your sidelines and escalating all the "bad stuff going on" there. Perhaps that's why some schools have MORE kids getting major college scholarships. Perhaps it's time to admit that MAYBE, just MAYBE, you're logic MIGHT be flawed. Just a thought, Old Eagle. TOPS1435
I am sorry I opened Pandora's box about Gary Joe being at the game. We have had Harris poll and Rival.com personnel on the sidelines along with other scouts. Kinne was wearing a Baylor shirt when he was at the game, but so were the Oklahoma scouts who were at the first game in Tyler. Maybe one of the reason Gilmer gets a number of D-1 recuits, is that Traylor encourages scouts and works with them. I do know he aggressively works to get his kids scholarships, developing highlight videos of their plays, etc. I have never seen one of the above visitors speak to the players or in anyway get close to the team during the game. Gtownhornsfan
Jeff really wants to see his players become good role models and successful men and women, and the way to do it is to start with his program, then get the right people to see his athletes and give them the opportunity at the next level. Not much opportunity in Gilmer to make alot of money to support your family. So to get a quality education to be offered to his athletes, he trys to get all types of colleges to look at his kids and be able to offer them that scholarship. By the way it goes for the girls also not just the boys. He only wants what is best for his athletes.
blackflag_74
maybe my math is wrong but something dont quite add up: smoaky has kinne at 1649 passing yards thru 4 games. but, based on the stats i found in various places, the best that kinne could have is 1572 yards thru 5 games. granted, math is not my best subject, but these are the stats that i found: vs, bishop-gorman= 261 vs. tatum= 288 vs. daingerfield= 384 vs. center= 256 (one newspaper had him at 199) vs. atlanta= 333 ( i also saw 383 for this game) based on my math that is 1522 yards. if anyone has any more concrete stats, i would love to have them. at his current pace, he should have approx. 3000 yards as gilmer goes into the playoffs. he is approx 2450 yards behind the record of 12, 511. now, having said that, if kinne keeps his average per game where it is, he will be approx 930 yards behind the record going into the playoffs. Smoaky
blackflag74, These are from the coaching staff and newspaper, "AND" you're getting his total offensive totals mixed up with his passing yards. He has 1,565 passing and 1,649 of total offense (rushing and passing). Smoaky
