Guest
OK, regardless of what you thought of Buck Showalter, he's gone now. Let's look to the future. I've listed the early names being mentioned to manage the Rangers in 2007 and I want to see who gets the most votes...
Five0pd310
I had to think whether I wanted Wakamatsu or Jaramillo. I think Jaramillo is too valuble right now as a hitting coach. Besides, I like saying the name "Wakamatsu!"
Aggie2008
Tha Waka for sure. During Buck's suspension the Rangers almost swept the Tigers under the Don. They really like him in the clubhouse. My guess is he will be hired by the end of the week.
Ratface
How's this guy for a darkhorse candidate: Bobby Valentine? Think about it. He's fiery, which I think is something the Rangers need a little bit of right now. Plus, he's not just a pup anymore like he was when he was here 20 years ago, so much of that ego has disappeared. And what ego and need to be in the center spotlight he does have left, that's OK-because this is a team full of guys with little to no ego who wouldn't mind being out of the spotlight themselves. It's just kind of an interesting thought.
RAMbone
I think they need to bring in someone younger, ready to start managing. The ones on the list aren't some I'd jump up and down to get. How about Nolan Ryan?
TxBroadcaster
Nolan Ryan would be a TERRIBLE decision.
LJLPOP10
I don't think he would want it anyways.

Ratface
Dusty Baker or Lou Piniella would be HUGE mistakes! I just wish Mike Hargrove would become available. Tom Kelly would be a very interesting candidate, also.

ramsn03
Based on what reason would you want Valentine back, they need someone to manage and not be part of the show.
eastx4u
Joe Girardi would do great with this young Ranger team, since he himself is not to far removed from the game, he could teach his insight of the game on how its played today. Rangers need to go young with this decision.
chsspiritguard04
Joe Girardi would be a great fit for this team. I also would like to see Sweet Lou in a Rangers uniform.

TxBroadcaster
If you liked Buck, then you will like Girardi because he manages the same way, is big on micro managing which is fine with a very young team, but a team of veterans will not like the power controlling style The Rangers are NOT a young team anymore. They are a group of younger veterans and I think they need more of a manager that will allow them some space.

cheaptrick77
Nolan Ryan is too busy as the EXTREMELY successful owner of the Round Rock Express and Corpus Christi Hooks .......... I wish he could work some of that magic in East Texas.
