OK, regardless of what you thought of Buck Showalter, he's gone now. Let's look to the future. I've listed the early names being mentioned to manage the Rangers in 2007 and I want to see who gets the most votes...

How's this guy for a darkhorse candidate: Bobby Valentine? Think about it. He's fiery, which I think is something the Rangers need a little bit of right now. Plus, he's not just a pup anymore like he was when he was here 20 years ago, so much of that ego has disappeared. And what ego and need to be in the center spotlight he does have left, that's OK-because this is a team full of guys with little to no ego who wouldn't mind being out of the spotlight themselves. It's just kind of an interesting thought.

If you liked Buck, then you will like Girardi because he manages the same way, is big on micro managing which is fine with a very young team, but a team of veterans will not like the power controlling style

 

The Rangers are NOT a young team anymore. They are a group of younger veterans and I think they need more of a manager that will allow them some space.
