Aggie2008
CNN interveiwed a journalist yesterday in Baghdad who says he spoke to the leadership of one of Iraq's insurgent groups face to face and gave a direct quote from one of their senior leaders: "We cannot win this war militarily, so we must win it THERE"...the man pointed to the television accross the room. They have read Ho Chi Min, they have read all about Vietnam and the Tet Offensive, and they are trying to duplicate the media frenzy that followed Vietnam, and it is working. Killing one soldier here, and another there, they are playing to an American TV audience. After reporting yesterday about that interview with a terrorist group, CNN puts up 'exclusive' footage on their website of US troops being attacked by insurgents. Then, they post pictures of orphaned Iraqis and refugee camps. An hour later, their website posts an article about why it would be a good idea to leave Iraq. Then, they post another article this morning about Iraq and how bad it is and how it is getting worse. As of right now, their ENTIRE front page is about Iraq and why we should leave. This begs the questions: A) Why is CNN trying so hard to undermine the support for the war, even though they know for a fact that is exactly what the insurgents want them to do? B) Why is CNN all of the sudden posting footage of troop attacks that they had refused to post before? C) How did CNN obtain this footage, and why is it such high quality? This was not a home video camera footage, it was done by a professional cameraman with professional equipment. CNN had never really done any of the above before, I was actually impressed before yesterday of CNN's fairly decent reporting in Iraq. I'm curious as to why all of the sudden yesterday they started being so avid about leaving.
Middle
Because it's the media. And it's entertainment; unless, you are Kirt Falcon, then it's a vast liberal conspiracy. Why they started doing it now... well I say it's because there's an election in two weeks. I think "reporting" like that is sickening. But to answer your A most everyone these days at least wonders why we went over there and why it's gone the way it has. Mistakes are mistakes, and I suppose things like Vietnam aren't that far removed from the American collective mind (Which is a surprise to me, the attention span is usually extremely short). I haven't ever really watched CNN; all of those tickers and "side stories" on the screen gave me headaches. I suppose now I have even more reason not to. :)

If they were showing the footage of Soldiers being attacked 6 months ago, the American public would have already forgotten. That does no good for election time. I wonder if the answer to the "Question C" is that after they interviewed the "leader of an insurgent group" they requested to tag along on an ambush? KirtFalcon
Maybe CNN is embedded with the terrorists! I know all they want to film and report on is how badly we are getting attacked and how our soldiers are being killed. How about a success story once in a while? Oh, that wouldn't fit their anti-war, anti-Bush agenda!
