Go4th Posted October 20, 2006 Share Posted October 20, 2006 Most of us look at Texas High School football ratings on several different websites. Have you ever looked at maxprep.com? They rank every football team in Texas and all other states for national rankings. In Texas they rank 1119 high school teams; it doesn’t matter if you are 1A or 5A. I went through there top 300 or so teams looking a 2A schools and made a list of the top 25 2A teams. It looks a little different than some of the rankings I have seen on other sites. They've got Giddings ahead of Texas High, Lufkin and Galena Park North Shore and that's after they moved Giddings down two spots. So they're trying to tell me that Giddings was the 5th best team in the ENTIRE state of Texas last week and this week is the 7th best team in our entire state? Please! Look how Smoaky has ranked the teams in 2A and see how close he is after taking hits before this weekend, kind of gives you an idea of hope much he knows about football. Tatum gets all the publicity but they will have to earn their way now. no matter the level of competition, talent with mistakes runs the risk of losing everytime. EverWatching Posted October 25, 2006 Share Posted October 25, 2006 this recent poll looks a littel more convincing than the one posted at the beginning. The only thing i would have to disagree on would be Jefferson at number 32. True, Troup did beat Tatum. Troup deserves a high ranking and Tatum deserves to go down some. They should be higher, but 7-8 would be high enough. before the season I thought they were a lock to win 2a, until the season started unfolding. Kind of like Gilmer last year when they sought to repeat last year coming off an undefeated season the year before.
