A Mount Rushmore for Texas Sports Legends

Suppose Texas had a Mount Rushmore. And suppose you were in charge of deciding which four sports folks belonged? That's the premise of ESPN's latest get-people-involved brainstorm. Only ESPN isn't doing it only for Texas. It's doing it for all 50 states, Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico. The rules are pretty loose. The person could either have worked here, lived here or simply been born here. I think changing planes at D-FW doesn't quite qualify. Jerry Jones, for example, would qualify in Arkansas and Texas; Troy Aikman in Oklahoma and Texas. The series begins Feb. 16 and will run five weeks.

My four would be:

Tom Landry, Don Haskins, Nolan Ryan, and Sammy Baugh

What say you?

I like the shout outs for A.J. Foyt, George Foreman (can we add Jack Johnson the Galveston Giant), Lance Armstrong, Babe Didrikson-Zaharias, Ben Hogan, Rogers Hornsby, Lamar Hunt, and Earl Campbell.

Thinking about just golf, which I don't play Babe, Ben, Sam, and Byron should overshadow some golf course in Texas.

Not Lance Armstrong... dominate in his sport no doubt, and overcame great adversity, but he has one big personal flaw for me... jmo tho guys. These guys on a mountain should epitomize greatness (or goodness at least) in every aspect of their life.
