First NASCAR experience

OK dudes, on Saturday I am having my first-ever NASCAR experience at the Nationwide race at Texas Motor Speedway. From best I can tell, we have pretty good seats -- about halfway up a little after Turn 4.

Any advice or suggestions about my TMS experience? Anything to do or see while I'm there?

Best advice I can give............don't make any bets while drinking.

And seeing as it's a race at TMS........take a rain suit. Everytime me, my dad, or someone I know has gone........it has rained at some point in the weekend.

Have fun, get ready for some noise and it may be boring. Last two races at TMS were snoozefests! However, the fans are great and be sure to go walk along the outside and check out all the stuff there. It really is alot of fun! Oh and when something does happen at TMS it is usually in turn 4, so be watching!

Get a Jr. T-Shirt, a Jr. Koozie and a Git-R-Done Cap.

Texas Motorspeedway is awsome. We leave Wednesday morning. We are camping outside turn 3. Give me a shout.

Some hints.

1. check the weather but carry extra clothes for what they say the weather in NOT going to do.

2. Go early. The race track is surrounded by things to do. You can easily spend 2 to 3 hours outside the track. Some special discount things are going on this weekend. Some items are up to 90% off!

3. read the schedule...........8:00AM NNS Registration Opens

9:00AM - 2:00PM Texas Motor Speedway Credentials Office Hours

9:00AM NSCS Garage & Registration Opens

9:30AM NNS Garage Opens

10:00AM Gates Open (1-8, 11 & North Tunnel)

Luxury Suites & Victory Lane Club Opens

10:30AM **NSCS HOT PASS IN EFFECT**

11:00AM - 11:45AM NSCS Practice

12:20PM - 1:20PM NSCS Final Practice

2:00PM NNS O'Reilly 300 (200 Laps, 300 Miles / TV: ESPN2, Local Radio: The Fan 105.3 KRLD)

Post Race: Live NASCAR Memorabilia Auction benefiting Speedway Children's Charities (location: Village of Champions)

2:30PM NNS Registration Closes

3:30PM NSCS Garage & Registration Closes

6:00PM Legends Races at Lil' Texas 1/5 Mile

7:00PM - 10:00PM Team Texas Race Car Rides

12:00AM Burn Out Alley Load In Closes

====As you can see their are 2 practice sessions for the Sprint Cup Series before the Nationwide race.

4. Just becasue your ticket says section this and row that and seat here.........don't sweat it. Most all Nationwide races have plenty of empty seats so after the race starts you can move to empty seats if you see some that are empty.

5. Rent the Sprint scanner with video. You get to pick the driver to listen to or you can listen to the track announcer or the radio broadcast. On the video screen you can get the track video loop or stats with timing or in car video with real time telimitry. Getting it for the weekend is cheaper if you are staying for the Sunday race. Also, 2 people can use it at the same time so you can off set the cost. This is a great thing for people who go all the time, but for a first timer it will really help with the total experience.

6. leaving early won't always get you out of the parking lot sooner. More of a Sunday thing but staying pays off.

7. Lots of free stuff and give aways outside the track.

8. Go to www.texasmotorspeedway.com and check out hints and the rest of the schedule.

Oh,.............if you eat inside the track during the race be sure and walk a bit. There are many choices and if you go to the first place that you come to then you might miss some of the best. Check out the rib-eye sandwich place. On the outside you can't go wrong at the Johnsonville braut semi-truck.
