Hey Scooter.....you've got me confused with somebody else. I haven't been "whining & bashing" the Cowboys draft. I've said very little about it at all. I've been challenging the statements about Dallas' superior talent, recent big wins, and the abilities of their WRs.

If you think they're a Super Bowl team after a 1st round playoff loss and a non-playoff season back-to-back there's probably not much I can say to convince you otherwise. Never underestimate the power of denial. The proof is in the results. You keep saying I'm hating on Dallas. I love the Cowboys. I love the Astros too, but they ain't going anywhere either. Just because I like'em I'm not going to fool myself into hyping them for the World Series.

Ok maybe i did blanket the statement on bashing. I was including our WR's in that also.

Yes I think Dallas has as good a chance making Super Bowl as anyone. In 2007 they played good most of the season with very little injuries. They lost to a hot New York Giants team by 4 in the playoffs. Dallas led in almost every stat for the game. The Giants defense carried them to the Super Bowl. Dallas had beaten the Giants 2 times that season and when your playing a Division rival 3 times ... it's tough to beat them all three. Yeah Dallas had a great team that year. Last year would have been another great year but the injuries decimated the team in key positions. Your blind if you can't see that.

So it's a new season with Williams at #1 WR. Hopefully the ball gets spread around more and our running game is the bread and butter for us. Keep away some of the devastating injuries and you'll see Dallas dominate.

Our young linebackers and secondary should be ok. They showed promise last year and there were several rookies and new players. The special teams should be much improved this year.

Ok maybe we can keep Flozelle from getting so many penalties at key times.

The Giants are a very recent example of a team going to the Super Bowl after 2 first round losses, followed by a non-playoff year. I believe the Seahawks also did it before their SB appearance.

It's neither a statistical anomaly or a trend that the Boys WILL do something, but it doesn't count them out of anything either.

I initially didn't like the Buehler pick but after reading up on him and his athleticism I like the pick up. If he can contribute on kick/punt coverage role and be a kickoff specialist with the ability to consistently kick touchbacks then he will be a major asset in the field position battle. Folk is an awesome FG kicker but struggles with kickoffs so a combination of the two would be a very good special teams weapon.

I really wanted to see Pat White picked as a project QB but he was long gone so McGee was picked. There were others still on the board I would have probably picked over McGee but he seems to have good athleticism with a strong arm. Hopefully he ends up growing into quality QB or at least a quality back up.

what does pat riley and carl lewis both have in common? both were drafted by the cowboys because of their overall talent. bobby carpenter will be gone by the end of the year if not sooner. a good example of a first rounder wasted. a guy on the second day of the draft could have done what he has done and a whole lot cheaper.

This should be Carpenter's last chance with the Cowboys. This was probably the biggest miss Parcells made on draft day.

I just don't understand why he hasn't been able to play better, when Ellis went down a few years ago Carpenter showed he could play with great athleticism... then showed nothing the next year.

Even if he plays with great ability this year and, by some miracle, makes a pro bowl or plays up to the potential Parcells thought he had, the Cowboys should be very wary on signing him to another contract.

For me it's fairly cut and dry why Bobby Carpenter can't make the field...he doesn't fit a one gap 3-4, and never will.

During his rookie season, He spent most of the time learning outside linebacker and getting strong so he can hold up to the point of attack. He even played some DT, got time in the nickel, did well on special teams. He then made it to goal line defense. Had a good game in the playoffs. Carpenter was starting to 'get it'.

That was Parcells' last year, and that led poor Carpenter into his next defense; the one-gap 3-4. Carpenter's role in this defense magnifies his greatest weakness...no lightning first step to penetrate his gap.

He can still play the nickel/goal line defenses well enough, but he just has no position in the Phillips' 3-4. At inside linebacker, he's done it by better blitzers...James, Thomas, Brooking. He can't compete with the pass rush of Ellis or Spencer. No where for him to go.

I imagine once his contract is over, he'll go to another team and do a fairly solid job on some 4-3 cover 2 team.

Or he'll go into broadcasting and become another talking head.

Stonekelly... taking chances on some of these players you mentioned is something most teams do. Good things happen sometimes. Bob Hayes was one of these picks. He was known for his sprinting before Dallas picked him up.

i agree with you. taking chances on talent is worth it.

Your problem is you can't recognize that Dallas has a very good playoff team and coaches.

That's kind of like saying the Texas Rangers have a World Series team isn't it ?????

I agree with Ramsn03. 10 years of history kind of destroys that statement.

Of course you side with Rams.... You have the same thought process. If I'm not mistaken this is a totally different team from 10 years ago. So your theory has no credibility based on that.

The season is still young with the Rangers. And naturally you've already given up on them as well. Your too funny!

My theory has no credibility.....but yours does considering the past 2 seasons with basically the same team (now minus the #1 receiver). Interesting logic. But I hope you are right. No matter what you think I'm a huge Cowboys fan.

But I like arguing with you. You don't give up even when you are obviously wrong

For the record I can't stand the Rangers. I'm an Astros fan. I wouldn't care if the Rangers never won another game.

How is it the same team with all the key injuries? Lots of reasons to have a bad year last season. Even with T.O. gone I think our WR situation will be ok. T.O. was one of my favorite players. Even with all his faults. I just see chance for the offense to do some things running the ball and thus opening up plays on passes. We still have the best TE in football and should have an exciting backfield.

With the kicker Nick Folk undergoing surgery on his kicking leg hip the pick up of kicker David Buelher makes a lot more sense. Folk is supposed to return from surgery in time for training camp but it is nice to have Buehler working on his skills with the Cowboys already.
