TSWA Class 4-A All-State H.S. Football Team

BRYAN – Stephenville wide receiver Coy Eakin and linebacker Reese Young are the Texas Sports Writers Association’s Class 4A players of the year after leading the Yellow Jackets to the Division I state championship.
Eakin had 93 receptions for 2,140 yards with 31 touchdowns for 16-0 Stephenville. He shared offensive player of the year honors with El Campo running back Rueben Owens who rushed for 2,989 yards with 46 TDs. Young had 156 solo tackles, 31 of them for losses along with 15 quarterback pressures to be the defensive player of the year.

TSWA Class 3-A All-State Football Team...

BRYAN – Mount Vernon quarterback Braden Bennett and Lorena defensive lineman Joe Gutshall were the players of the year on the Texas Sports Writers Association’s Class 3A all-state football team.

Bennett threw for 3,789 yards with 41 touchdowns and nine interceptions along with 549 yards rushing and five scores in leading 14-1 Mount Vernon to the Division I semifinals. Gutshall had 31 tackles for loss and 29 quarterback pressures in leading Lorena to the Division I state title.

TSWA Class 2-A All-State Team...

BRYAN - Shiner running back Dalton Brooks and Mart linebacker Da’Marion Medlock were the players of the year on the Texas Sports Writers Association’s Class 2A football team.

Brooks rushed for 2,615 yards in leading Shiner to the Division I state title. Medlock had 256 tackles, 58 of them solos for 14-1 Mart, which reached the Division II semifinals.

China Spring claims second state championship in route of Gilmer - Garrett Ross

Behind three touchdowns from Lamar commit Major Bowden, #5 China Spring (16-0) clinched the UIL 4A DII State Championship in a 31-7 route of #2 Gilmer (14-2) at AT&T Stadium on Friday. The Cougars didn’t commit one penalty throughout the game, while their defense held a Gilmer offense averaging 46.5PPG to just one score.
Lorena dominates Brock to earn their second state championship in program history - Garrett Ross

Behind a valiant defensive performance, the #5 Lorena Leopards (14-2) defeated #2 Brock (15-1) 35-18 at AT&T Stadium on Thursday afternoon to claim the 3A DI State Championship. Despite not having star running back Reed Michna available, the Leopards dominated Brock from the opening kick.
Strawn claims 5th state championship in program history in 73-28 victory - Garrett Ross

Behind an impressive performance from the Rigdon brothers #1 Strawn (15-0) defeated #2 Motley County (14-1) 73-28 to claim the 1A DII State Championship. Freshman Grayson Rigdon put on a show, as he accounts for 426 total yards and 8TDs while earning the Offensive MVP Award.
