Standings
Texas High (3-0, 7-0)
Hallsville (2-1, 3-4)
Marshall (1-1, 4-2)
Nacogdoches (1-1, 3-3)
Mt. Pleasant (1-1, 1-5)
Whitehouse (1-2, 3-4)
Jacksonville (0-3, 1-6)
Texas High proved they are the undisputed top team in the district with their thrilling 43-42 win Friday night....but Marshall may have sent notice that gap between them is smaller than some expected. Barring upsets.....Texas High looks poised for a 10-0 regular season and Marshall an (8-2) season. But there's plenty of football left to be played.
The race for the 3/4 positions could be a good one. Nac may have played themselves out of the race with their loss to the Bobcats Friday night.... but Hallsville, MP, and Whitehouse could be an exciting race to see who gets the last 2 playoff spots. One of them will get left out.
Week 8 Schedule
Texas High Vs. Mount Pleasant
Nacogdoches Vs. Whitehouse
Jacksonville Vs. Marshall
Big games coming up.Â
Texas High is looking to remain unbeaten in the district while MP could use a win to remain a half game ahead of WH. A MP loss doesn't eliminate them...but it puts pressure on them to win out the rest of the way.Â
The Nac/WH game may be the game that carries the most post-season weight. A Nac loss will all but eliminate the Dragons from playoff contention, but a win would throw a wrench into a lot of plans and possibly form a four team race for the final 2 spots. A WH win keeps the Wildcats in the thick of the race.
Marshall, while putting a scare into Texas High cannot let down in their final four weeks. In spite of their strong showing in Texarkana.... the Mavs have 2 rivalry games remaining that could be trap games for them Vs. Hallsville and Whitehouse. But first... they have to take care of business against struggling Jacksonville.
