Hallsville 3B/1B Gideon commits to A&M

Hallsville 1st/3rd-Baseman Ronnie Gideon has committed to play at Texas A&M.
Gideon, 6-3, 220, hit 11-HR's and drove in 40 runs as a junior.
He had offers from A&M, Texas, LSU, Arkansas and Florida.
Three East Texans on TSHOF Ballot

Three East Texans are listed on the Texas Sports Hall of Fame ballot that will be released in the near future.
The three include, Red Murff, the scout who discovered Nolan Ryan, Texarkana native Eddie Mathews, who is among the greatest third-baseman in MLB history, and former Trinity Valley C.C. men's basketball coach Leon Spencer.
Harleton Names Lloyd Interim AD/Football Coach

Dr. Craig Coleman, the superintendent at Harleton I.S.D. just told me the school board voted to give long-time assistant coach Jackie Lloyd the Interim AD/Football Coaching position.
Lloyd, who has been the head baseball coach at Harleton for ten years, will take immediate control of the football program while replacing Dennis Alexander who left for the AD/Head Football job at Troup, "I just thank Dr. Coleman and the school board for giving me this opportunity to advance my career to a position I've always wanted."
Lloyd was the head baseball coach and football assistant at Marshall before Harleton.
Dr. Coleman also mentioned the Interim tag is not a lack of support for Coach Lloyd, but, a necessary part of the process while they await for the ten day posting period to end.

Troup officially hires Dennis Alexander

Dennis Alexander has signed his contract to become the AD/Head Football Coach at Troup High School.
Alexander, fourth all-time in career wins in Texas history, has been the AD/Football Coach at Harleton for the past ten years and told David Smoak on Monday, "I've been more than satisfied in Harleton, I've had this little place to live in the country where I've devoted a lot of time and enjoyed getting to know so many friends and a great coaching staff, but, this is an opportunity at Troup I couldn't pass up."

Troup to hire Dennis Alexander on Monday

Dennis Alexander, one of the all-time winningest coaches in Texas High School Football history will be the next AD/Football Coach at Troup High School effective at 5:00pm on Monday. Alexander confirmed the news to David Smoak.
Alexander has been the AD/Football Coach at Harleton since 2002, and replaces Chuck Griffin who resigned earlier this month to take a job in Alabama.
Troup I.S.D. superintendent Dr. Marvin Beatty told Smoak, "I don't know about any of the speculation, but, I do know one thing, we've interviewed some candidates, but we haven't completed the 10-day window that ends on Monday."
Again, Monday is when Smoak was told Alexander's hiring would be official.
Alexander has an overall record of 323-126-11 and won two state championships at Daingerfield in 1983 and 1985. He's also been a head coach at (Daingerfield), Hughes Springs, and Henderson.
