Tyler ISD to recommend AD job to Greg Priest...

Baylor University men's golf coach Greg Priest has accepted the job as the new athletic director at Tyler I.S.D. Priest, 43, is familiar with Tyler, having once been the head golf coach at Tyler Junior College. He also has ties to East Texas being a graduate of Mabank High School what was then, East Texas State University, now Texas A&M-Commerce.

Eddy May leaving Simms Bowie for DeKalb

After a night to sleep on it, Eddy May has accepted the job as AD/Head Football Coach at DeKalb High School. May, who has been at (Simms) James Bowie since 2009 was offered the job on Monday.

(Simms) James Bowie was 31-25 in May's 5-years, including five consecutive playoff appearances.

Before his time at (Simms) James Bowie, May was an assistant coach under Randy McFarlin at both Whitehouse and Daingerfield.

He replaces Brandon Easterly who was 4-16 in 2-years at DeKalb, including 0-10 in 2013.
Blooming Grove's Grubbs headed to Buffalo...

Gary Grubbs was approved as the new AD/Head Football Coach at Buffalo High School on Monday. Grubbs, who was 18-15 in three-years at Blooming Grove, has also been a head coach at Kermit, Eldorado and Pecos.

Lance Bernard changing from principal to AD/HC at Garrison...

Lance Bernard, who has been the principal at Garrison High School the last five years, will be recommended as the new AD/Head Football Coach at Garrison on Friday.

If approved by the school board, Bernard will replace Craig Barker who took the AD/Head Football job at Kaufman.

Before his time as a principal at Garrison, Bernard was the head track coach and assistant football coach at Atlanta High School, and was on their 2003 state championship football team staff, and won two state championships in track and field as well.

Bernard has also been an assistant at Hemphill, Alto, and his first job in coaching was as an assistant coach at Garrison.

DeKalb to recommend Daniel Johnson

Smoaky.com has learned Daniel Johnson will be recommended on Monday night as the new AD/Football Coach at DeKalb High School. Johnson resigned at Teague earlier this spring after going 15-8 in two years with the Lions.

Johnson has ties to East Texas as a former Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator at Pittsburg, and former Offensive Coordinator at Clarksville.

Waldie takes over at Woodville...

Mike Waldie is the new AD/Football Coach at Woodville High School after being approved on Wednesday by the Woodville ISD school board.

Waldie has most recently been the defensive coordinator at Jacksonville, and has also served as a defensive coordinator at Mount Pleasant, Livingston, Cleveland and Nacogdoches.

This will be his second head coaching opportunity, he was once the AD/Football Coach at Luling High School.

Waldie takes over from Steve Fentress who is leaving for Center High School to coach on Kevin Goodwin's staff.
