K.D. Cannon commits to Baylor

Mount Pleasant senior wide receiver K.D. Cannon committed to Baylor on Saturday, while watching their first scrimmage of fall camp.
Cannon, 6-0, 165, 4.4, caught 105-passes for 1,592-yards and 25-TD's as a junior.
Cannon is the third East Texas player from the Class of 2014 to commit to Baylor, joining Liberty-Eylau WR/S Davion Hall and Nacogdoches DE Greg Roberts, Jr.

Cross Roads Hires Jim Bradford

Cross Roads ISD superintendent Clay Tompkins confirmed the hiring of Jim Bradford as the new head football coach at Cross Roads High School.
Bradford, who replaces Brad Wallace, was 23-28 in five years at Shelbyville.

Ryan Tomlin resigns as Head Basketball Coach at Whitehouse

Ryan Tomlin resigned on Tuesday as the boys head basketball coach at Whitehouse High School to become an assistant principal at Lindale High School.
Tomlin, who has been the head coach at Whitehouse for five years, told David Smoak, "I was 100% committed to coming back to Whitehouse for the next season, but this opportunity became available and after thinking it through, talking with my wife and praying about it, I just felt it was time for a new chapter in my life and career."
When asked if he would ever get back into coaching, Tomlin responded, "I will always have coaching in my blood, so I'm going to take this one year at a time."
Tomlin has been a head basketball coach for 11-years, Whitehouse (5-years), Bullard (5-years), and Bonham (1-year).
Whitehouse was 23-9 during the 2012-2013 season, losing to Mansfield Legacy in the first round of the Class 4-A state playoffs. The Wildcats had lost in the Area Round the previous four years. Tomlin was 72-37 in his five years at Whitehouse.
