Eric King resigns at Elysian Fields...
Friday, 1st February 2013 - 1:23PM
Eric King resigned as AD/Head Football Coach at Elysian Fields and informed his team on Thursday morning. King was 23-13 in three years with the Yellowjackets, and Elysian Fields was 11-4 in 2012 and lost to eventual state champion East Bernard in the Class 2-A, Division II semifinals.

King's contract was not renewed in early-2012, and he just felt it was time to move on in the best interest of the kids in the program so they could get used to the new system, "It's been an emotionally draining experience these past several months (since the non-renewal), but it was very tough today talking with my team," King added, "We took over a program that needed a spark and I think my staff found a way to get it done and we've built lifelong relationships with these young men."

When asked about his contract not being renewed several months ago, King said, "It was at times an emotional hell, and these kids needs someone who is getting 100% support from the community."

King has some head coaching options in front of him, and if not a head coaching job he's willing to take a job as a coordinator somewhere for now as well."
