Cannon Named Rivals Underclassmen MVP

Mount Pleasant's K.D. Cannon was named the Most Valuable Player of the inaugural Rivals Underclassmen Challenge held over the weekend at DeSoto High School in Dallas.

The Challenge featured nearly 200 of the top class of 2014 and 2015 prospects along with some select prospects from the Class of 2016.

The event included positional drills, one-on-one competitions, an offensive and defensive challenge, but it was Cannon, playing wide receiver who stood at at the weekend's Most Valuable Player.
White Oak Wins 2-A Lone State Cup Championship

2011-12 UIL Lone Star Cup Winners Announced

White Oak High School captured its first Lone Star Cup trophy after winning state championships in academics and boys basketball. The Roughnecks also placed fourth at the state marching band contest and were state semifinalists in volleyball.

Nally promoted to Head Football Coach @ Frankston

Matt Nally is the new head football coach at Frankston High School.

Nally, has been an assistant coach at Frankston for six-years, with the last four as the offensive coordinator, after he spent three years as an assistant coach at Cayuga High School.

Nally replaces Sam Wells who is now the AD/Head Football Coach at Elkhart High School.

Hallsville 3B/1B Gideon commits to A&M

Hallsville 1st/3rd-Baseman Ronnie Gideon has committed to play at Texas A&M.

Gideon, 6-3, 220, hit 11-HR's and drove in 40 runs as a junior.

He had offers from A&M, Texas, LSU, Arkansas and Florida.
Three East Texans on TSHOF Ballot

Three East Texans are listed on the Texas Sports Hall of Fame ballot that will be released in the near future.

The three include, Red Murff, the scout who discovered Nolan Ryan, Texarkana native Eddie Mathews, who is among the greatest third-baseman in MLB history, and former Trinity Valley C.C. men's basketball coach Leon Spencer.
