Azalea Orthopedics and Texas Spine and Joint Hospital set seventh annual Tyler Football Classic for August 30 – September 1

Tyler, TX—Grace Community School is set to host the seventh annual Azalea Orthopedics & TSJH Tyler Football Classic August 30-September 1, 2012. Six area high schools will compete in the Classic, which kicks off the 2012-13 football season for participating teams.

The Classic, which is in its seventh year, is rotationally hosted by Tyler area private schools.

Grace Community School, Bishop Gorman Regional Catholic School, and All Saints Episcopal School collaboratively organized the Classic with San Augustine High School, Beckville High School, and Timpson High School.

Matthew Jones, M.D., Azalea Orthopedics sports medicine surgeon says the event has grown substantially in seven years. “This is a great chance for high school football players and fans to gather before the official season starts.” Dr. Jones went on to say that, “sponsoring the event is a great way for Azalea Orthopedics and Texas Spine and Joint Hospital to show how proud they are of the high school programs in East Texas.”

Devin DeLaughter, Athletic Director of Grace Community said he looks forward to the Classic being hosted by Grace Community High School this year, “The chance to showcase our facility and bring highly competitive football to the people of Tyler is a dream come true.” “We are lucky to have a couple of top 10 preseason programs competing in the Classic this year and hope that everyone has the chance to see some of these teams in action, said DeLaughter.

Tickets for the event are $6 for adults and $4 for children under 12 and can be purchased at the gate at game time. No district passes can be used.

• August 30 – 7:00 p.m. – Grace Community School vs. San Augustine High School

• August 31 – 7:30 p.m.– Bishop T. K. Gorman Regional Catholic School vs. Beckville High School

• September 1 – 7:30 p.m. – All Saints Episcopal School vs. Timpson High School

Clyde-Perkins Stadium is located on the campus of Grace Community High School, located at 3001 University Blvd in Tyler.
