Revised statement from PTISD regarding Coach Derek Fitzhenry:

Because this is a personnel issue, the school district is legally and ethically bound not to provide details.

The district is, however looking into the issue and it will be addressed at the regular School Board meeting on Monday, Sept. 9th.

No decisions have been made regarding the status of Coach Derek Fitzhenry. Pursuant to board policy at this time, he has been placed on administrative leave.

Pine Tree AD/Football Coach Derek Fitzhenry has been suspended for an alleged shoving incident with a student trainer.

No details yet on the length of suspension or the next step in this process.

I was told by an assistant coach on staff that Fitzhenry has been suspended and not fired. Another assistant told Smoaky.com, "we're about to have a staff meeting and make decisions on what we do for this week, but other than that, I can't comment."

Fitzhenry has not returned calls to David Smoak at this time.

Pine Tree opened their football season with a 42-38 win against Van.
