Sam Wells from Frankston to Elkhart
Saturday, 16th June 2012 - 7:00PM
Sam Wells is the new AD/Football Coach at Elkhart High School.
Wells has been the head football coach at Frankston for the last four years, compiling a 23-20 record and two consecutive playoff appearance, "This is a great opportunity for me and my family, we're a little closer to the hometown of both my wife and I, and I think we can rebuild, but also continue the momentum set by Coach Adair while he was in charge of the program." Wells continued, "Although we have work to do, I want our players to know we aren't looking down the road, we're looking at right now, we want to get right to work and make some things happen. And, we want to also reestablish the winning attitude they had around here when Coach Black was around."
His reference is to Doug Black, who was 50-24-1 in two separate stints at Elkhart (1989-1992 and 2003-2005).
Wells was also the defensive coordinator at Elysian Fields under Ted Patton (now at Rusk) before taking over as head coach at Frankston. He's a graduate of Cayuga High School and Sam Houston State University.
He replaces John Adair, who remains on as the head baseball coach.
