ABOUT ERIC THOMAS

Eric Thomas was born in the rural town of Garrison, TX, just a few short miles from Nacogdoches. He was introduced to athletics at an early age and earned a football and track scholarship to Blinn College, where, as a freshman, he was recognized as the Fastest Hurdler in the Nation and became the 4x4 Junior College Relay record-holder. Eric later transferred to Abilene Christian University, where he earned All-American honors before training for professional Track & Field competition.

In 1999, Eric earned a silver medal in the Pan-American Games. The following year, he earned a spot on the U.S. Olympic Team and competed in the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. In 2003, Eric became the U.S. Champion and earned another silver medal in the Pan-American Games. For eight years of his 10-year professional career, Eric Thomas was ranked in the top 10 Track & Field athletes in the world.

After retiring from professional competition, Eric became a certified personal trainer in 2005 and founded Champion Trainers (www.champion-trainers.com), where he has been providing quality, customized training programs for more than 7 years to clients of all ages. Some of his clients have included professional athletes from the NFL and NBA, including the Houston Rockets, Indiana Pacers, Houston Texans, New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Washington Redskins, Green Bay Packers, and New York Jets, as well as AAU Youth Sports Teams and programs.

With a strong desire to improve the health of fitness of Texas youths and to support students pursuing a college education, Eric organized the Eric Thomas Foundation in 2010. Each year, the foundation provides scholarships to deserving high school graduates who would otherwise be unable to acquire financial assistance.
