Barry Bowman to be D.C. at Pine Tree

Paris AD/Head Football Coach Barry Bowman has been offered and accepted the job at defensive coordinator at Pine Tree High School, per school board approval.

Bowman, 17-6 in two years at Paris was a college teammate of Pine Tree AD/Football Coach Derrick Fitzhenry at Louisiana Tech.

And, after taking over as AD/Football Coach at Daingerfield, Bowman visited Fitzhenry to discuss the defensive scheme at Giddings High School. Bowman was 44-3 in three-years at Daingerfield, including three consecutive Class 2-A State Championships from 2009-2011.

Bowman told David Smoak, "My wife and I are moving close to all of my family and my parents haven't been in good health and I hardly see them. Paris has been great for us, but this is about being closer to family and my wife's parents and mine," Bowman continued, "We are excited about being closer to home while also working with Coach Fitzhenry at Pine Tree."

Fitzhenry told Smoak, "We are excited about the possibility of adding a three-time State Champion coach in Barry Bowman to our staff, and I've known Barry since we played as teammates in college, this is a great situation for all involved."
