Mullins leaving Harker Heights for Navasota

Mike Mullins is leaving as head football coach at Navasota to become the offensive coordinator at Navasota High School.

Mullins was 14-27 in three years at Harker Heights, including a playoff team last season.

Mullins, a graduate of Texas A&M has coached near Navasota before as head coach at Cameron Yoe from 2003-2009. He has also been a head coach at Angleton (1993-1997) and Gilmer (1997-1999)

Mullins was unavailable for comment, but did send David Smoak a text this afternoon, "I'm at a new student conference at Texas A&M with my daughter for the next few days," Mullins continued, "I will finish up my time at Harker Heights next week and then start going to Navasota after mid-July."
