With Thanksgiving around the corner, it could make budgeting for your high school football fix a little tight, but luckily there are some high caliber games from multiple classifications this week within 50 miles of Waco. Here is a preview of the matchups this week in your own backyard.

Class 1A DI:
Coolidge (7-4, 2-1) vs Saint Jo (9-2, 3-0)

The Coolidge Yellowjackets are coming off an incredible 45-0 win against Blum last week. Coolidge is currently riding a three-game winning streak, where they’ve outscored opponents 149-18.

Last week, Saint Jo defeated Leveretts Chapel 53-24 in bi district play. The Panthers last loss came back on September 24th, when 1A DI #2 Jonesboro defeated Saint Jo 64-50.

Saint Jo made it to the second round of playoffs last season, but were defeated by Blum 56-28. Coolidge fell in bi district play last season to Blum 58-28.

This is the first meeting all-time between these two programs and the winner will face the winner of Abbott vs New Castle in Regionals. The game will kickoff at 7:00pm on Friday in Coolidge.

Class 4A DII:
Rusk (9-2, 3-2) vs #6 Bellville (11-0, 5-0)

Last week Rusk defeated a really good Salado team 49-42 in bi district play. The Eagles are currently on a three-game winning streak and their offense has averaged 37 points per game during that stretch.

Rusk is led by 2022 three-star QB Owen McCown, who is committed to play for Colorado. Last week against Salado, McCown was 31 for 37 with 401 yards and 5TD.

Bellville is coming off a dominating 62-14 win over Orangfield in the first round of the playoffs. The Brahmas offense has put up ridiculous numbers all season, as they’ve outscored opponents 570-96, including four shutouts.

The Brahmas offense is led by 2022 three-star RB Richard Reese, who is committed to play for Baylor. Against Orangefield, Reese had 17 carries for 257 yards and 5TD.

This is the first meeting all-time between these two programs and the winner will face the winner of #4 West Orange-Stark and Jasper in the third round. Kickoff is set for 7:30pm on Friday at McLane Stadium.

Class 4A DII:
#5 China Spring (11-0, 5-0) vs Sealy (8-3, 4-1)

China Spring had no problem in bi district play, as they defeated Madisonville 50-7 last week. The Cougars pride themselves on dominant defense play, as they haven’t allowed an opponent to score more than 21 points all season.

Offensively, the Cougars light the scoreboard up. China Spring is currently averaging 43.3 points per game, while outscoring their opponents 476-115.

Sealy was able to get by Silsbee 21-19 last week in bi district action. The Tigers last loss came against #6 Bellville 42-7 in the second game of District 12 4A DII play.

The Tigers have struggled to keep opponents off the board defensively this season, as they’ve allowed 230 points.

This is the first meeting all-time between these two programs and the winner will face the winner of #1 Carthage and Hamshire-Fannett in the third round. Kickoff is set for 7:00pm on Friday at Waco ISD Stadium.

Class 4A DI:
Lindale (7-4, 5-1) vs #3 El Campo (10-1, 5-0)

Lindale was able to knock off Lumberton 56-39 last week in bi district action. The Eagles entered the playoffs with a 65-58 loss to #6 Kilgore in their District 9 4A DII finale, but prior to that had won five straight games.

The Eagles like to spread the field and let senior QB Sam Peterson sling the football. Peterson is 172 of 286, 2,547 yards, 23 TDs, 11INT;
118 carries, 722 yards, 8 TD this season. His favorite target is Evan Alford, who has 60 catches, 902 yards, 8TD on the year.

El Campo’s lone loss this season came back in week two, as they fell to Fulshear 38-17. The Ricebirds have turned things up a notch since that moment under first year head coach Chad Worrell and are currently riding a nine-game winning streak.

The Ricebirds are led by one of the best running backs in the nation, five-star Rueben Owens. Owens holds 36 offers from just about every major Power 5 program, but Texas is currently the front runner for his services.

Last week Owens had 11 carries for 202 yards and 3TD, as El Campo defeated Houston Yates 63-18 in bi district play. Owens has 181 carries for 2,463 yards and 42TD this season.

This is the first meeting all-time between these two programs and the winner will face the winner of Columbia and Little Cypress-Mauriceville in the third round. Kickoff is set for 7:00pm on Thursday at McLane Stadium.

Class 5A DI:
#1 Denton Ryan (10-1, 8-0) vs Magnolia West (10-1, 7-1)
