  1. Here are a couple of thoughts...

    1. Being a good man doesn't let you keep your job...its a business

    2. The new AD obviously has a plan...trust the process and see what the results are in a couple of years

    3. Changes needed to be made throughout the entire program

    4. Baseball (which is the flag ship sport) hasn't won a district championship in a long time...maybe 4-5 years. 2nd or 3rd place finish in the district and then one and done doesn't constitute a dynasty. In the words of Ricky Bobby "if you aint first, your last"

    5. Maybe the new AD doesn't like the baseball coach, maybe he doesn't like the color of his truck, or his dog or his wife...whatever the case may be, its his call.

  2. Tree hugger, the only way for you to raise your IQ would be for you to stand on a ladder.

Invest some time and go sit down with the Supt like I did...and stop spewing lies. You don't do anything but stir the pot. If you weren't hiding behind a screen name you wouldn't be so quick to post these rumors.

  3. I don't know who this big wig is....but according to salty1 and tree hugger he has:

    1. Single handedly got the coach fired

    2. He put the committee together

    3. Manipulated an 11 person committee to get his guy to the finals.

    4. Directed the school board to turf the field

    5. Strong armed the Super to get his guy

    6. Convinced the board to hire him

And when the dust all settles, ND has a Chad Morris disciple with 5 State Championships who is a quality person and by all accounts a great coach and a new turf field to boot.

This guy is either John Gotti or needs to run for Presidebt of the United States.

  4. All...great conversation yesterday with Supt.

    Here are the facts.

    * Finalists are Joshua Sadler. DC at CE King High School. Hawkins graduate. The other guy is Robbie Coplin that worked for Chad Morris at Stephenville for 4 years and followed him to Lake Travis where he worked for him for 5. This was his first year as OC at Marble Falls.

    * It is unfair for you guys to say that the QB's dad had an agenda. He saw that a change needed to be made and he sent an email to supt. He also complained about softball and basketball in same email. Through this process the supt has seen all the components of a "program" and sees what has been lacking. He brought up a good point...the QB's dad has remodeled the field house, landscaped the high school, used his on equipment to seed and take care of the football field, hosted events for all programs at his house...all on his own dime. He was a huge supporter of this staff till he saw that change was needed. He was valuable part of the committee process and contributed all the information he collected.

    * The finalist may or may not be related to him, but both guys stood on their own merit.

    * Supt has no knowledge of the booster club owing money. He did say that he will investigate and if it is true, they will pay at once or changes will be made in that organization as well.

On a side note, I want to apologize. A statement that I made was that it was a "crappy" QB. The kid is 15 years old...he works hard and from all accounts he is a great kid. My statement was made from what I read from Salty1...who should also apologize. The statement that he fumbles, throws interceptions and avoids contact are just rude. Do we really think that they went 0-10 because of a QB? They gave up in excess of 400 points...the kid doesn't even play defense. I called a friend of mine on staff at Troup and he watched the film after the Diana/Troup game and he stated the QB never has a chance. He rarely had time to throw and when he did, he had lots of drops. He said he would take the kid right now...cause he is a good kid and he will be a winner. It takes a lot for a 15 year old kid to not miss a single practice or game and never give up.

So shame on me, shame on salty1 and shame on all the rumors. I have learned my lesson...investigate and get the facts.

  5. Just spoke with my friends from Diana. Seems the new coach is going to "help" be selected by the QB's dad. I bet a coach that has a QB for a son gets tossed out of the pile. Some interesting events going on at ND as he is good friends with a board member also who supposedly gets to help narrow the candidates down. Looks like a 2 man hiring team from what some in the community think. I'd hate to know I was spending my time on a committee for things to be predetermined. This process seems to get more clouded every day. Good luck kids because it seems you have people looking for your new coach that has their own son's interest at the forefront.

  6. Not a single comment...not one, has said anything negative about Brett Ratliff. He is obviously a good man. I don't even think that there has been a negative comment about his coaching ability.

I don't think making a change after you have lost 18 of your last 21 football games is unreasonable. After 3 years, you own the program so time was not an issue.

I saw the booster club guy asking people to come to meeting to build and improve the program...not even sure how that would help. I also saw the list of mediocre performance that was being touted. When you list 3-7 4th place in district as an accomplishment, you are grasping at straws. There is nothing wrong with the community demanding better. ND always has provided a first class education and the community can certainly hang it's hat on that fact.

Bottom line is that wins matter. You have to win or you face the consequences. All the coaches that read these posts know it. The Tyler Lee guy was let go and he was .500....it's the nature of the business.

I support the school board in their decision and wish the Eagles and Brett Ratliff both the best of luck.
