  1. Adam Wright for Hemphill. Don't know about Harleton, but he was pulled in the 2nd or 3rd inning and the next guy did a real good job. Wright only gave up 2 or 3 hits.
  2. thanks for the link good article
  3. I would love that, but it sounds like a :homer: prediction from somebody in Jasper or Sabine County to me.
  4. Way to go Hornets! I can't believe how you came back and blew away EF two games in a row after losing the first game. You guys are great. :notworthy:
  5. Nuttin' to it. Just score more runs than they do
  6. Hemphill takes game two 3-1. Elysian Fields is next for the Hornets.
  7. Hmmmmm...since we're on daylight savings time, does that mean the first pitch will be at 7:00? :coolio:
  8. Jerron White was looking into playing at Oklahoma State when he had a horrible auto accident and suffered a broken neck. Haven't seen him a few years, but last time I did, he was doing well
  9. 9 million yards? Yeah, right. What I heard was that Hardin's coach didn't want a neutral site, so they flipped and Hemphill won.
  10. Hemphill 34 Woodville 27 Hemphill willplay Hardin at Hemphill Friday night. Way to go Hornets.
  11. This will be a good game. Basically it's a playoff game where the winner advances and the loser takes up basketball. After the way CC dismantled Woodville and the fact that it's in Hemphill, I think the Hornets take it.
  12. yes, I think you're right about that. It gets a little confusing. Can't see Shelbyville beating Corrigan, but things do get crazy sometimes. We'll know for sure in a few days.
  13. Newton is in at 4-0 Shelbyville is out at 0-4 San Augustine is not out mathematically, but would have to beat Newton to get in, and that ain't happenng. Hemphill, Woodville and Corrigan are all at 2-2, and still in it. If Hemphill beats Woodville, Hemphill and Corrigan are in, regardless of whether Corrigan beats Shelbyville. If Woodville beats Hemphill, Woodville is in, and Corrigan is in with a win over S'ville. If Woodville and Shelbyville win, Hemphill and Woodville are in.
  14. Thank you. Newton played a superb game against Hemphill. They have all the tools on offense and the best team I've seen in 2A in a long time. When they play focused like they did last week, they are a top 5 team.
  15. Once again, this district has turned out to be Newton and everybody else. Newton is head and shoulders better than the rest. Speed, size, agression...it's all there. I read some quotes from Coach Barbay blasting his guys for the way they played against Corrigan, and after seeing both teams play, I think he was telling the truth. Newton 3-0 SA 2-1 Woodville 2-1 Hemphill 1-2 Corrigan 1-2 Shelbyville 0-3 SA still has to play Newton and Corrigan Woodville still has to play Newton and Hemphill Corrigan still has to play SA and Shelbyville Hemphill has Shelbyville and Woodville left, with Woodville being played in Hemphill. After the drumming Corrigan gave Woodville this week, here's my picks: Newton Corrigan Hemphill The two big games left are Corrigan/SA and Hemphill/Woodville. Nobody is going to beat Newton in this district.
  16. Newton 2-0 Woodville 2-0 San Augustine 1-1 Hemphill 1-1 Corrigan 0-2 Shelbyville 0-2 Woodville has the roughest schedule left with Corrigan, Newton and Hemphill still to go. Corrigan may be 0-2, but they're capable of winning the rest of their games if they get it going. It could get really interesting with tie breakers, etc., but we'll know more Saturday, although probably not enough to get a clear picture yet. San Augustine and Hemphill still have shots at making the playoffs, although SA would hold the edge in the tiebreaker. Neither has faced Newton yet. Did Newton show a glimpse that they might be beatable with a close call against Corrigan? Shelbyville would love to get to play the spoiler role, and will come to play every week.
  17. SA should be the favorite, just on tradition and the fact that Shelbyville has been struggling in the last few years. Coach Upshaw has the program headed the right direction, so the Dragons could just make a game of it.
  18. Corrigan-Camden loses on last-second field goal Click-2-Listen By Nick Wade The Lufkin Daily News Saturday, October 20, 2007 HEMPHILL — The Corrigan-Camden Bulldogs came up just short of their first district win, falling to the Hemphill Hornets 16-14 on Friday night in Hemphill. In what was truly an incredible game winning drive, the Hornets, down by one, took the ball over on downs deep in their own territory with no timeouts and just over a minute to play and drove to the Corrigan 5-yard line with 5 seconds remaining on the clock. From there, kicker Chris Burdette drilled home the game-winning field goal. Kristian Nichols had an outstanding night for the Hornets, accumulating over 200 yards via rushes, receptions, and kick returns. Nichols also scored Hemphill's two touchdowns. His 48 receiving yards all came on the magical final drive, where quarterback Luke Hall was 5 of 7 for 64 yards. Nichols opened things up in the first quarter by returning the kickoff 40 yards to set up the Hornets. After a 40 yard drive, Nichols gave Hemphill the lead with a 7-yard sprint to the end zone. The two defenses took over for the rest of the first half, with the Hornets leading 7-0 at the break. When the second half started, Corrigan began to show how dominant they can be. The Bulldogs' Keivan Holman and Brodrick Mays pounded their way through defenders to cap off two 60+ yard drives in third quarter. With Corrigan leading 14-7 midway through the final quarter, the Hornets answered with a 76-yard drive that saw Nichols get into the end zone for his second score. The ensuing extra-point attempt would have tied the game, but Corrigan's James Pickrom raced around the corner in time to block the kick and leave Hemphill trailing by a point. The Bulldogs wound the clock down by picking up three first downs on their final possession, but the drive stalled and the Hornets got the ball back with just over a minute to play. After two deep bombs from Hall fell incomplete, he threw a shuffle pass to Nichols, who took the ball 20 yards for a first down. Hall found Nichols two more times on the drive, and Alfredo Bennet once, spiking the ball after each first down to kill the clock. The Hornets found themselves on the Bulldog 5-yard line with 5 seconds to play. With no way to stop the clock if they failed to score on the next play, Hemphill elected to go for the field goal. The home crowd erupted as the kick split the uprights, giving the Hornets an unbelievable comback victory. Hemphill picks up a much-needed district win, after falling to San Augustine last week, and will travel to district-leading Newton next Friday. Corrigan, who started the year 5-0, has now dropped the first two district games, and will be desperately need a victory in next week's home game against Woodville.
  19. I dont know what game you were at, but it wasn't the one I saw. If Corrigan hadn't held on nearly every series, the last 1:19 would not have been an issue.
