[Hope you young fellows huffing and a puffing have a big fork for the crow you will have to digest come saturday morning. I have never seen so much bull in one place in all my life. both are great programs both have a lot on the line and both will bring there A game so sit back take a deep breath and get ready for some football. Bashing each other isnt gonna make a tinkers dang what happens on the field.

Good luck W.O. from Gilmer wished we were still in the same district but number of kids will do that. Yall should do good and go far, :thumbsup: maybe someday we can get the chance to square off against each other. We did have some good games in the past. :thumbsup:

I might be your cousin I was born in Gilmer went to school in gilmer, played football from 7th to 12th in gilmer and still live in gilmer, gee does that make me a homer? I have been on this chat board since 2004 but dont reply very often as things get out of hand way too fast so I just read and laugh. I am retired but still find the time to drive the band to the ballgames taking care of Mr. Gray and root for our boys win or lose. I respect all the schools around our area and root for them if we fail to advance. So get ready for some football ready or not I smell another 2004 year coming on, or at least I hope so.

Gilmer is young and will have to find the leaders of this year to gain respect, but beware they do have players to replace those who are gone. There is also going to be some surprises like running backs that most people dont even know about yet. down year? I think its more like a 2004 year if you ask me just how good can these kids be? Only time will tell but it wouldnt surprise me to see a deep run if they mature and find there leaders of the team. Defense weak? maybe but offense is just likely to be just as quick to strap on a 21 point lead before you can get back with your diet coke and hot dog. so get your program your probably not going to know half of these players but I bet everyteam will have heard of about half of them before the year is out.

I keep hearing about all the weapons we have on offense next year and see we have a loaded team again but my question is what about the Defense? What kind of help do we have coming up next year. Even as a 100% true blue orange blooded buckeye we do need some help on defense. Can anyone tell me what to expect next year on the Defensive side? I am sure I will hear a lot of remarks from the out of towners but locals tell me what you have heard. I left the field in 1974 as a buckeye and will die a buckeye so any negative remarks will just get a chuckle from me as if you play us get ready because we will be back and will not go down easy. Good luck buckeye baseball as you are off to a great start but I am already thinking about the next football season.

Well if you love football I dont think it matters what time of the year it is. I really could care less about basketball so yes i will talk football. As far as it being the best team we ever put on the field , well i am not so sure about that. i still say the 2004 team was better but that is just my opinion. As for you check your blood pressure and take a chill pill you seem so stressed out. If you dont want to talk gilmer football like i have said in the past do not put Gilmer in as a topic it easy.

A new QB that can scare you with his running. Sure he doesnt have the long pass like GJ but his passing aint bad. A running back if he doesnt get the big head that is a possible score every play. All the offensive line returning. Several pass recievers that aint bad and a completly new defense. Will the D be any good? Who knows but I feel that we will be a better team next year. sometimes having all the best players doesnt make you a good team if you cant play as a team and I did see some disturbing things last year with some of the players that i will not go into detail about. But you would think some of them were pro's as the way they acted. Teamwork and defense is what we need to work on. As to the jv not being athletic did they not have but one loss and they lost two qb's during that game to injuries? correct me if I am wrong. I think we are in for a wonderful year in 07. yes I do see a lot more running next year but slowing down the scoring wouldnt hurt us and give the D a rest. As for our Defense yes it was weak but we will get better.

Just like the state game in 2004 Jasper VS Gilmer who is the best ? Doesn't matter any more, it all comes down to one game 4 quarters and who wants it the most. Which team is the best? The one who has one more point than the other at the end of the fourth quarter. So watch all the films you want it will not win the game. pride, desire and the will to win can carry a weaker team to victory. My choice is LE by 3 points in a hard fought game. To both teams you did good, be proud hold your heads up and remember you are the best in the state. Good luck. Oh by the way the Buckeyes will be back.......

What also hurt Tatum against Gilmer was Gilmer had 279 yards passing against Tatums 113 yards but like he said a couple of turnovers not happening and it could have been a different game. Tatum was a power to deal with and wish them good luck in the playoffs. I think they proved a point in the last game.

Ok, guys,, lighten up just a little bit. I try to be a voice of reason on here, and I am very much aware as to why some of you have become agitated over some things a few of the Gilmer posters have said. I honestly admit that some,, if not too much,, bragging has taken place about the Buckeyes this year. I think it's ok to feel proud about them,, and talk about them,, I've done my share of that,, but arrogance pushed up hill all year can turn around and slide down on you at some point,, and it did to a few of our posters last friday night. One thing to remember though,,, a lot of the bragging about the Buckeyes this past year was done by several posters who weren't even "from" Gilmer.
That being said,,, all that gives no one the right to tell someone else what they can, or should/shouldn't post on this forum. As well as I can tell, it's a forum for all fans,, and everyone has the right to post anything they want as long as they aren't insulting, hateful, rude, or mean towards someone else. I do not believe oldbuckeye#62's intention was to take anything away from the teams that are still in the playoffs, not at all. I feel sure he just wanted to talk with "Gilmer" fans about what we could see in our future. Hey,, we have that right,, we're out of the playoffs,,,,,, right??? LOL
Anyway,, please try and cut us a tad bit of slack,, if you don't want to read anything about the Buckeyes,,, then good gravy,, don't read the posts. By the way,,, I have no idea who oldbuckeye#62 is,,, even though our names are similar. My number when I played was #27. And if it makes you feel good and you don't like Gilmer,,, I think we won two games my senior year. LOL ,,,, and ,,, we won both of them by one point each. I guess things have changed a little. Anyway,,, don't dislike us because of our success,, just dislike the ones who throw it in others faces. I can promise you I don't do that,, and I don't think that was the other old buckeye's intentions either. Thanks.
Thanks old buckeye Everytime I log in I type Gilmer because that is all I care about reading and man look at all the replies from all of these people. I do not go to there sites and trash them why do they feel they have to trash us. Yes we lost to a good team I hope they go all the way. I hope Tatum wins all of there games and whoever else is in the playoffs my hat off to them. Sorry our names are so close I dint see your name when I created mine. I do not hide behind my name I played football for Gilmer and got out of school in 1974 and wore #62. I have a daughter that is a cheerleader this year and if you want to know who I am I will tell you but you would have seen me driving the band bus to all of the off games if you dont already know who I am. I have worked at Eastman for going on 28 years. Anyway i am going to a game friday night to support one of these teams but I still like to talk about Gilmer football so all these others can get lost for all I care and just hit the ignore button on Gilmer and that would be fine with me. After all these years I still bleed orange.

You know its quite simple if it says in the header Gilmer its probably about Gilmer skip it and dont read. Gee my grandson could figure that one out. instead of jumping in bashing us old folks, look for one on your own school and talk about them If you would like I could come over and show you how it is done if you cant figure it out. i am not bashing others and do not want to talk buckeye football with you if you are not a fan. so use some common sense and get off my team.

Lets get next year started. Man look at what we have coming up and back. I feel excited at what kind of team we will field next year. True we need to work on our Defense a little but but man we are not going to be down any at all on offense. all I can say is we will be back with as many weapons as this year some new faces and some of the same faces. Dont count us out as we are here to stay for several years to come.

I have for days been reading the trash talk about LE vs Gilmer. How shallow a life some of you must live to bash kids. Le great game you came prepared and played a great game. Good luck in the playoffs. awesome team. Gilmer you have to be disappointed in the loss. Not many teams would be sad with a 10-1 record great year and good luck to the seniors who will move on. to the others we will be there for you next year supporting you. To the people who think we recruit get real we are talking about a small town of Gilmer give it a rest who do you think we are. We finally have a program and all you can do is slam it on second thought go ahead we will be proud of what we have regardless. To the coaches great year keep up the good work.

This game will be a important game for gilmer as they will be coming off a high from the Tatum game and might let down. Dangerfield always puts up there best as we found out last year. As for the Tatum game should have been closer remark maybe but what would have happened if we had left our starters in the 4th quarter. I saw one poster saying we did but I assure you he used everybody he had and the big play makers were not in the fourth quarter. I saw running backs I have never seen play along with recievers. Taking nothing away from tatum, they are good. Dangerfield should be a victory but I do not look for total domination. They do have there pride and do like to beat us. good luck to both teams.

First of all congrats on both teams for a very good game. Wow #3 for tatum is real. Great team speed I look for a 2a state trophy. Wow #22 for Gilmer what can I say and I could go on and on. Love the meeting at mid field. Both teams looked great I hate to see the posts bad mouthing each other this game could go either way on any given night. No need for excuses from either side two great teams. Great crowd good luck to both sides. I felt like I had played the game once it was over. Time to look at the next game I am sure who ever both teams play they would like to bump you off. Both teams now have targets on there backs. Play hard and good luck. Tatum we are pulling for you as you truely are a good if not great team. Buckeys what can I say you made me eat crow. I didnt think you were ready for Tatum but you proved me wrong. dont take dangerfield lightly they will be coming for you. See you at the game. To all the fans who are still fighting about the game get over it and move on its done and finished all the if ands and buts are not going to happen. I am sick of hearing about the calls mistakes and ref's. It was just a game.:thumbsup:

No trash talk to Tatum. Great team great players and coaches good luck to you friday night. You are a classy team but I hope we win. Either way I think both schools will be proud after the game. Go far in 2a win it all we will try to keep the 3a state trophy home here in east texas also.

Ok, all of us need to be careful, myself included.
Old buckeye I do not know who you are fan, dad of a player or coach but I disagree with you sure i was being hard on them but they need it. I am not trashing them as players or there abilities. What I am mad about is there lack of emotion or fire they have played with in the past. Sure it hot and they have workeed there tail off but do you think the other teams havent. It is hot everywhere here in east texas. If they want to win another State trophy the have to start now with the determination and drive not when they gel or get ready. I have not seen this and have been watching very close. I watch them on the sidelines and watch them while they are in groups away from the coach. Instead of dropping there head or slinging stuff throwing a fit get back out there and make it right. Nobody and I repeat nobody that we play are going to say man we were lucky that we scored. They are going to drive at us with everything they got and say take that because we are going to kick your butts. We have to be ready with everything we got and do not have time to drop our heads and be mad at ourselves. I know this for a fact as we too lost one game that has stayed with me forever. One that we shoulkd have won. I just hope that we are ready for what we are about to face. Buckeyes I love you all> I will support you win or lose. Just dont let the hype get out of hand Play as a team forget the press, play like I know you can.

I am afraid our problem lies with the press. We have read too much in the papers on how good we are and started to believe it. Look at our players acting like everyone should just lay down in front of us because we are bad. Our qb has his own web page praising himself on what he has done. Our running back mentioned in sports illistrated on how good he is. Everyone saying our line is the best in the state. Our team is not playing with any heart or emotion. We look dead and will get the socks beat off us unless we wake up. Our secondary is playing just like we left them in canton last year. I am sorry if this burns your ears but wake up team people are coming at you with everything they got and from what i have seen I wouldnt be afraid of you either. I guess we could stick a Dave Cambell book in front of them before the game and say see... we are good he said so. Coaches I hope you havent gotten lost in the glamour of the press we need work and a lot of it. Do we have anybody who can cover a pass? We didnt in canton and does not look like we have anybody this year. Prove me wrong and I will apoligize and admit I am wrong. Is anybody running the offense or we just running around looking confused to throw them off? I will be there for the tyler game but if I was a betting man I would put all my money on the other team because we do not look like we want to win. We look like we are just going through the motions. Look at your players on the sidelines dead heads down. Breaks my heart after seeing the last two years players playing with fire in there hearts wanting to win I see right now this team 6-4 for the year if we are lucky.

Great post Oldbuckeye I for one know several families that will pack up and leave the middle of the game if Gilmer acted like some of the teams i have seen play. Not naming any but they get way out of hand and the coaches look the other way. Disipline is just as important as any other thing when it comes to the game. I am proud of our coaches in the way they teach our guys how to conduct themselves. And yes if they lose control pull them out and make them sit and think about it. Any good college will spot a problem quicker than aunt jemima can cook a pancake.

I am a true blue Buckeye fan and will tell you what I saw. Do we have weakness sure we do. We were burnt on two passes for sure one dropped and one touchdown. Our running back threw a snot slinging fit because he was caught behind the line of scrimmage. we dropped passes an had many mistakes. Does that make us weak? Heck it was the first scrimmage game that was to be expected. Do we look like a state playoff team? Nope not in my eyes. We have a lot of improving to do and a lot of work. Right now I see us struggling through several games before it will get better. so go ahead buckeye fans and trash me but I bleed orange and will be at every game rooting for my Buckeyes. But we are not state champs yet. And by the way I too played six years for the bucks so dont say I am not loyal. But yes right now we do have a weakness.

I might be the only one who knows what a tinkers dang is but that picture of the tigers tackling Curtis Brown looks like he is licking off his shoes. How is that for old geezer? By the way I never had a Dangerfield team beat us when we were playing them and yes we had face masks back then it wasnt that far back. But for real It looks to be a very good game and if this is what slops your dripper then yall get after it I will just go watch the game and who ever wins I will take off my hat to them as being the better team that night with no excuses at all. We played Dangerfield from 7th grade to 12th but those are not in the books only the high school games.
