  1. Big Sandy by 2-3 (or more) touchdowns!
  2. I was surprised by the Shelbyville-Deweyville score. Actually did a double take. 16-2?
  3. I haven’t seen the offensive stats but it seems to me we ran up and down the field on them, pretty much at will. Then a “holding” call or some other questionable penalty would bring us back. Everyone was a little frustrated, but we worked our way through it and finished strong. I know we didn’t put up 70 or 83 points but still a pretty dang good night! Big Sandy was scrappy this night! They never gave up.
  4. I thought Big Sandy played hard and were definitely amped up in front of a packed homecoming crowd. I thought our boys were very aggressive, probably more so than what the officials wanted or were used to. At one point I was like “maybe they prefer us to just play two below?”
  5. The Jacket defense put up some pretty impressive numbers again: BS 40 rush attempts; 24 yds Passing: 10/2/0; 17 yds 50 plays 41 total yds Our defense has been playing lights out. We’ll hope for more of the same this coming Friday when we are back home (after being away 4 weeks including bye!) vs. Carlisle.
  6. Alto pulls away in final half to trounce Big Sandy, 41-14 Progress staff reports photo credit Savana Dover BIG SANDY — Alto didn't play its best game of the season on Friday night, but the Yellowjackets still were able to open District 10-2A-I by caging the Wildcats of Big Sandy, 41-14. The Mean Sting (6-0, 1-0), unofficially, held the Wildcats (1-5, 0-1) to under 50 yards in total offense. The Alto defense kept Big Sandy's offense off of the scoreboard in the final half. Alto, who is 5-0 all-time versus Big Sandy, will host Price-Carlisle on Oct. 18. Carlisle shutout Cushing 34-0 in its conference opener on Friday. https://www.jacksonvilleprogress.com/sports/alto-pulls-away-in-final-half-to-trounce-big-sandy/article_b7374cb0-eca0-11e9-8520-4bc6f27674d0.html

  9. Both surprises! Maybe more so that Hawkins won. That’s their first dub.
  10. The Alto Yellowjackets (6-0 | 1-0) will host the Carlisle Indians (4-2 | 1-0) in a key District 10-2A contest Friday, October 18th. The winner has a leg up in the district championship race. The Jackets were soundly defeated last year at Carlisle and hope to avenge the loss this season at home. It’s been since 2016 that Carlisle played at Alto. The series is tight with the Jackets holding a slight edge 6-5-2. 12. We’ll just order that helicopter from Carlisle to dry things out. You got that dude on speed dial?
  13. That’s great news! It’s hard to trust the weather channel. Lol My father-in-law always says “If you stay inside watching the Weather Channel, the Weather Channel will have you staying inside watching the Weather Channel.” Wise words.
  14. Bundle up folks!!! It's currently 46 in Big Sandy, although it looks like game time will be 52. FEELS colder because it was 110 yesterday! FOOTBALL WEATHER! And no chance of MUD because BS has the nice turf field!
