When is the last day you can resign?
highschoolsports12 replied to sweatjacket's topic in High School Sports
Ain't no doubt...This AD told me I wasn't be loyal to the kids because someone contacted ME! I had told him two weeks before I wasn't planning to leave (which at that time I wasn't). Then he has the audacity to call me unloyal because another school contacted me about a job? A job making about 15 g more a year at a brand new school. Wow! Some guys have a lot of nerve you know? Anyone else working for guys like this? -

That's fine if your a straight football coach, but how bout spring sport coaches? Most baseball jobs dont open until after the season and can creep into june. I had this problem with my AD and he was pressuring me to make decision. That's not fair at all. -
What happened to Abernathy at Palestine
highschoolsports12 replied to pirate6's topic in High School Sports
Nothing "happened." He was hired as the first assistant at a brand new 4A school near Houston, Manvel High. It is a BIG raise and the school and facilities are amazing. Plus, Houston is a great place to be if you are a baseball coach in Texas. No hard feelings, just a career move. No different than all the other coaches that have left Palestine. -
Sabine hires David Feaster as AD/Football Coach...
highschoolsports12 replied to Smoaky's topic in High School Sports
Coach Feaster took a Minden team that was 0-10 the year before and within two years had them in the state semi-finals. That's pretty salty coaching there. -
Coach Abernathy the head coach at Palestine has applied. He has also been at 5A C.E. Byrd in Shreveport, LA and coaches a summer select team that has put several young men into college baseball.

LC Wildcats 20-12 (7-5) 2006 Wildcat Scott Sumner drafted by the Cleveland Indians 2004 Shreveport Oriole Tyler Bray is hitting .400 and was the LA All-Star Game MVP and all-state player. Lost ULM a good D-1 program 2-1 and 12-8. Doesn't really sound like a joke to me. Sounds like a good place to get an education and play baseball. Are the 7 D-1 signees jokes?

Forgot one...Beaux Waddell--Penn State (Southwood High School) Transferred from Centenary College. Haven't heard from Beaux in a while don't know how he's doing. Craig Barnes--Louisiana Monroe (Benton High School) 6'7 1B that signed with Panola originally. Hit THIRTY bombs in his high school career. Jimmy Heard--Northwestern St. (Airline High School) RHP Originally signed with Panola but hit 94 in the American Legion Regional Tournament and was offered on the spot. Currently, Northwestern's Friday night starter. Brent Smith--Louisiana Monroe (C.E. Byrd High School) Had NO offers until the Orioles. 6.4 60-yard dash. Has worked himself into the fourth outfielder role at ULM as only a sophomore. Quentin Shamsabody--Louisiana Monroe (Airline High School) Has since transferred to LSU-Shreveport. Justin Juneau-Northwestern St. University (Parkway High School) Just got news that former Orioles Micah Tipton (Okaloosa-Walton Community) has signed with Nortwestern St. and David Allbritton (C.E. Byrd High School) has signed with Barton County Community College. Other signees for the Orioles include: Bubba Jordan--Panola CC Andrew Cantrell--East Texas Baptist Tyler Bray--Louisiana College Nate George--Louisiana College Tyler Miller--Louisiana College Blake Walker--Bossier Parish Community Josh Wheat--LSU-Shreveport That makes 15 signees in three years and SEVEN not 5 D-1. We are very proud of these boys. All unbelievable kids.

I know the thread is East Texas Homeruns...but I saw in the Shreveport (LA) paper today that Gip Hendrix from Calvary Baptist Academy has 13 jacks!!!! They are the #1 ranked team in 1A in Louisiana and play several 4A and 5A schools.

Agree absolutely. No need to bring up past coaches. I am closely associated with the program and Coach Farrow did a fine job in his time here setting a school record for wins when my oldest boy played. Currently, the kids are playing well for Coach Ab. Let's just leave it at that.
