There are no per-game defensive stats (coaches/schools report stats to MaxPreps). Stats such as individual tackles and such are

listed but to this observer, Tenaha seems to have misreported solo tackles. They report zero assisted tackles. Overton on the other

hand appears to report them as defined by MaxPreps:

The total number of solo tackles. If a ball carrier is stopped solely or primarily because of the efforts of one player, that player should be credited with a solo or unassisted tackle. No more than one solo tackle can be credited on any one play. Tackles for losses and pass sacks should result in a player getting credit for that action and a solo tackle.

The total number of assisted tackles. If two defensive players contribute equally to the stopping of a ball carrier, credit both players with an assisted tackle, but give neither a solo tackle. NOTE: In a situation where there is not a solo tackle, there should not be more than two assists credited except in rare instances. In other words, on any given play one of the following may be credited: (1) one solo tackle, or (2) two assisted tackles. Only in the rarest of cases would more than two assisted tackles be credited.

    For comparison:

Tenaha vs Mt Enterprise - Tenaha reported a total of 122 solo tackles (zero assists). Mt. Enterprise had a total of 67 rushes, 6 kickoff returns, and 1 interception return for a grand total of 74 tackle opportunities for Tenaha.

Overton vs Mt. Enterprise - Overton reported 57 solo tackles and 42 assists. Mt Enterprise had a total of 53 rushes, 1 pass completion, 3 kickoff returns (some were fair caught or not returned), and no punt returns were reported. For a total of 58 tackle opportunities for Overton.

It seems Overton accurately reports tackles as defined by MaxPreps, but not Tenaha.

Is this their best season ever. I know it been a few.

Overton went 13-2 in 1995 and lost to eventual state champ Thorndale 39-19 in the semifinals. Back then there were only single divisions, no DI or DII.

I took this photo during the Fog Bowl game with them in Fairfield. This is LB Zach English tackling All-State RB Twone Simmons for a loss. Back before digital, I scanned this photo to my computer.

Yep! What goes up must come down! Gravity. Unless acted upon by a net force that changes acceleration in the direction of the net force. In this case the legs (object) were hit by the shoulder (net force) causing legs to go outward and body to turn sideways before gravity took back over to bring players motion to rest.

It's a violent game, full of collisions...I received some of those and gave a few myself.

Are they taught to lower their head & never use hands? Good way to hurt yourself & other people which i’m assuming was their goal.

As you should be able to see in the photos he was leading with his shoulder and not his helmet (middle photo).

It was clean and your "assumption" is completely incorrect. But I will "assume" you're from Price/Henderson...if it had been the other way around you would have said, "What a clean hit"...🙄

These refs are horrible. Ball bounced on the ground then to a wr and they call it a complete pass. Smh. Then they bend our qb back after he was down hurting him and no flag.

I'm sure you will not reply or acknowledge this in regards to the "Then they bend our qb back after he was down hurting him and no flag."...I am watching the video on Youtube of the game (you can go watch it, 6:21in the second quarter) and the QB scrambled and was tackled by #73 and one leg slid in the mud...the ball came lose and Overton players went for the ball, but refs ruled him down. No late hit.

This was good to see last Friday ...seems like the students get along fine, 😊

Cushing has to beat Mt E by 8+ to get in the playoffs, and that would give them the 3 seed.  Tall task, Mt E playing good ball.  The Carlisle game is going to end up costing them.  This is the toughest district in the area for D2.  Whoever gets left out would make it in the other districts around here.

I don't see Cushing winning by 8+ against ME...Carlisle should get by Alto giving them the fourth seed...but you never know

I coach at Arp Garrison kick our rear ends the 2nd game of the season on their brand spanking new turf Timpson is hasn't missed a beat since  Bussey has been in and out the lineup throughout the year I expect nothing less this year than I expected last year I expect this to go down the wire maybe a field goal to win this game who knows two teams that's on the Collision Course with one another they call this  Battle of the Attoyca everybody in Shelby County knows about this rivalry Timpson and Garrison has been better than one another for many years for years I don't know the exact history of this Rivarly,My former boss and good friend Coach Dale  Irwin played in this Rivarly back in the '80s at Garrison he told me it was very tense rivalry, best of luck to both teams this week I'm praying nobody get seriously hurt and good luck in the playoffs to both teams.

    Talk about a run-on sentence...🤣

    Yes, the refs beat you...😒😒😒

I will say losing your center last week hurt Carlisle on several snaps, but you did have a week to get a new one ready. It was the slick muddy turf that hurt your QB.

Your comment reminds me of an old saying, "If and's and but's were candy and nuts we'd all have a Merry Christmas."

Carlisle has a good young team and they played a heck of a first half for sure. Stopped Overton in the red zone like three times. Twice inside the 10.

It's difficult for you to give props to Overton, isn't it?

Has Overton been young the last couple years? Feel like they came out of nowhere.

Last year's team only had six seniors and only four of those started. Had a JV last year that got to play a few games mostly against larger schools. Overton lost four games by fourteen points and two by a couple of TDs each. So, the potential was definitely there is year.  A couple moved out of Overton (one to Whitehouse who was a state-qualifying powerlifter) and a couple more moved to Overton. So, yes the team was somewhat young last year.

A total of twelve seniors this year, ten who start (four play offense and defense). Their twenty-one-member, (twelve are freshmen) JV has had several games, again most against larger schools (tied with the Lindale freshman team). Three freshmen are on the varsity and two start. So, next year looks promising.

How good is this Overton team really? Should be interesting the next couple of weeks!

I guess it depends on what you mean by "good"...have they beaten a powerhouse team, no...will they be at AT&T in December, don't think so...but they might get one or two playoff wins depending on where they get seeded...have they put up good offensive numbers, yes.

I think when you are 8-0 as a team, you're pretty good...when you have a QB that has passed for over 2000 yards with two games to play and a decent running game over 1300 yards.

To Overton fans, they are pretty good, lol.
