Yes and they are still showing Clay Baker to be the coach. They have kids on the maxprep roster from several years ago. Someone is not updating it.
Maybe so...

Not that I'm aware of. We had a coach Shepard a couple years ago and his son played on varsity for Carlisle his freshman year. We lost him to Longview. He became a varsity starter for them his Sophomore year. He was a game changer in 2a, I wish we had that Shepard back.
Well, he is showing to be on Carlisle Max Preps roster for 2023...Xaryus Sheppard 6-1 185

He will be missed, but from what I've seen in 7 on 7 we got some good catching hands ready to step in.
Did you pick up a guy named Sheppard from Longview?

I thought you meant 49 boys out for football. Or was that the number that met the players?
49 out for football...the thread was about the number of football players
About 300 met the players

Overton Mustangs had 49 at their Meet the Mustangs night..

Great shot! What are your settings here?
I shoot RAW and adjust as needed...my settings were; ISO 1250, Shutter 1/2500 sec, f5.6, exposure bias +2 steps, focal length 240mm (used an f5.6 200-500 Nikon telephoto)...I also ran it through a denoise-sharpen program called Topaz

How's the qb coming up gonna look?
I know you guys got some pieces to work with still, losing some good talent due to graduation.
Not sure. Only saw JV play once and the QB was very competitive. I know the 8th-grade QB has a lot of potential.

I would think inside hire. But I think this is a good gig
I would hope they'd go with their OC...they have some really good kids coming up...next year might be down a bit.

Kilgore had a bond pass a few years ago for a new High School, upgrades to Football stadium and a Soccer/Track complex. It passed with less than 1k people voting in a town of roughly 20K. I thought was terrible but the bond was much needed and glad it passed
Just a thought...just because a town has 20K people in it, not all are voting age...there are less than 75K registered voters in the entire Gregg Co...but I'm sure it's more than 1K, so, of course, many didn't get out to vote...not sure what the population of KISD is, but the city is just under 14K.

I think the odds are they'll promote the current OC...he did a great job last year with young talent.

Poor talentless Carthage wouldn't be able to compete without the plethora of kids that flock to the Mecca just to play football. Awesome that Scott was able to get all these kids to move in and win three state championships in his first 4 years as a head coach. Must be tough on all the other schools in the State of Texas who only have the same kids that live there from Kindergarten through 12th grade. Pretty sweet that Carthage is the only place where anyone moves to.
Four-star Aeryn Hampton, a one-time Texas Longhorns commit, has enrolled at an East Texas powerhouse Carthage after transferring from Daingerfield. https://www.texasfootball.com/article/2023/02/27/four-star-2024-ath-transfers-to-east-texas-powerhouse?ref=article_preview_title

There's multiple reasons why AT&T hosts the games...its the nicest domed stadium in TX, it's the most central location of the 3 domed stadiums to the teams who make state and to a majority of schools in TX...most importantly it has the locker room space that NRG and Alamodome don't have.
Barring major political pressure on the UIL I don't expect the location to change anytime soon
Truth...

I hear that played at games pretty often but wasn't sure what it was called either. Pretty good song for high school games. I wish they would bring back some of the old classics that pretty much set the atmosphere for games in the 1960's and 70's like "The Horse", "Hawaii Five-0" and "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" I guess none of those would be too appealing to anyone except old folks from my generation
Some college bands like Auburn still play "The Horse"
Definitely a classic...

I went to the Timpson Bears vs Cooper Bulldogs 2ADI Region III finals last Friday at Lindale...got some decent pics. Timpson only shows three seniors on the roster, so look for more of the same from them next year. In first photo, WR #6 Vosky Howard, a junior. Second one, QB #10 Terry Bussey, a junior, and RB #8 JJ Garner, a sophomore.
