East Texas Baptist University has been chosen as the host site for the 2009 NCAA Division III West Regional softball championship beginning Thursday, May 7th, at Taylor Field.

Seven teams, including ETBU, will compete for the right to advance to the 2009 NCAA Division III World Series in the double-elimination.

Gustavus Adolphus, MN scored five-runs in the bottom of the sixth-inning on Friday to beat UT-Tyler, 5-1, on the opening day of the NCAA Division III Softball World Series in Montclair, New Jersey.

UT-Tyler will move into the loser's bracket and play on Saturday morning at 10:00am against the loser between Messiah, Pa. and Ohio Northern.

The World Series is a double-elimination format.
