I heard that Grand Saline does not want to play Van any more, would be a break up of one of the longest rivalries in Texas if that is true.

If i interpreted the rules he will not. If a player is disqualified in the first half of a game then he is disqualified for the remainder of that half and the second half, If he is DQ in the second half then he is out the remainder of that game and the first half of the next game

I am not the ref, nor have I ever been a ref for football. I have been a UIL coach in the public school systems in the Dallas area and East Texas area for 20 years, so I do know a little about the game. You go into a game knowing that the refs are going to blow some calls, they are human after all, if you let it affect your game then you have not prepared your athletes or your coaches. You say that Lindale won the game because of the poor calling on the refs part, so be it, I am not going to argue that point. Like I said before if you want it changed then get on the field and call it, I am sure they will welcome your help. Oh BTW I am not taking up for them, I have had my run in with them over the years.

IMHO there is a difference between talented player and the best player. Santos does have alot of talent and has proven this on both sides of the ball. However, he does have a tendency to make some bad decisions (late hits, punching, ejections, etc) The best players are the ones that keep their heads and play just as hard, maybe without the talent level, and contribute to the win. I have to agree the best players were the ones that finished the game. Just to keep the record straight, I am from Van, have followed Van since the late 70's. I have seen the up and downs, but I must say that this years team, IMHO, have received way to many unsportsmanlike conduct calls and have targeted themselves. You keep talking about Van playing without their BEST player, but did not Lindale also play with some of theirs out, so lets state the facts, Lindale won this game it is time to move on. Van and Lindale will represent the district well in the playoffs. And for those of you who want to bash the refs, if you do not like the way they call then get yours out of the seat and on the field and become one of them. ,

Well Van started pulling starters after halftime. Scores in the second half were made by non starters. If i am not mistaking the only first down GS had the first half was on a penalty. Final Van 50 GS 6

I think Van will start pulling starters after the first series of the 3rd quarter. Score "Van Moffet's choice to 13" And GS better not try to run up the middle if they want to keep their running backs healthy. JMHO

Anyone know who is taking over in Van? They had a young team this year that made the playoffs. I think they had like 4 freshman starting or playing a lot. Whoever it is should inherit a very good team.

They did not play Friday due to the state track meet.

Why are you saying poor Bullard? they were only 7 points away from being perfect in district. Athens beat them by 1, Canton beat them by 2, and Van beat them by 3. And they have most of their players coming back.

If history this year repeats itself then Mabank will win. Athens has alternated wins and losses all year if I remember correctly. They have not had a 2 game winning streak or a 2 game loosing streak. Van won a shoot out 56 to 34. One great game.

I know that this is going to sound like an excuse for Van's defense. Van played Friday night with 5 of the defensive starters out injured. Huddle DL, Calloway DL, Harrison, LB, Dalme LB, Hightower CB. Any 3A defense would be a little weaker if they were missing those guys. I am not taking anything away from Athens they played a great game and deserved to win. A few breaks and the score could have been reversed, ie the call or non call on the opening kickoff that would have given the ball to Van. These are just my humble opinions though. Vandals get ready for the Eagles you know they love to beat us. I will take the Vandals 38 to Eagles 35.

He was not on his game last night for passing. He ususally has much better acuracy. Even Romo threw 5 last week. It happens to everyone. Just to clear things up I am not comparing Calhoun to Romo.

Where are all the posters that where quick to jump on Coach Pennington and bad mouth him when we lost to Lindale. He and his coaches have put together some great game plans lately. Why can't you come on here and congratulate him, the team, and what they have accomplished the past 3 games. I say keep your mouth shut if all you want to do is bad mouth him. The bears came into the game as one of the top rated scoring offenses in East Texas and they held them to 3 first downs and about 50 yards of total offense the second half. Coach Pennington and staff, keep up the good work and congratulations on a great victory Friday night.

B-boro had a total of 165 yards 52 yard rushing and 112 yards rushing. Each team had 8 first downs. Van had one interception also. Second half Van had a total of 199 yards and brownsboro had 47 yards total. Van had 137 yards rushing and 62 yards passing. Brownsboro had -1 yard rushing and 48 yards passing. van intercepted brownboro 3 times in the second half. Van had 15 first downs and B-Boro had 3. Van had 5 different ppl score tonight. Blake Pennington 2 TD, Jermie Calhoun 1 TD, Matt Goode, 1 TD, Alan Dike 1 TD, and Howard Love 1TD. Epperson scored twice on passes for brownsboro.
