  1. Sunnyvale's strength is its receivers. Two very talented guys on the outside and speed on the inside. They are rotating two QB's, both of whom have had success. Many of the starters were on the state championship baseball team. Kids know how to win. Coach Settle has done a great job with this program. They will definitely be a tough W for homecoming.
  2. There are 5 classifications now so surely the numbers will be similar to what we have this year. I agree Stymie, those numbers would not be fair at all.
  3. I could be wrong but I think those numbers are from Padilla.
  4. Mabank 6 Carthage 4 Mabank scores 3 in the top of the 7th to pull off the huge upset! Carthage goes home early.
  5. Yes they did. Was scheduled to be in Bullard but with the rain coming they decided to flip for home and home.
  6. 2A: 1. HUGHES SPRINGS – 16-2 (8-0) 2. BROCK – 17-0 (9-0) 3. REFUGIO – 19-0 (11-0) 4. BANGS – 19-0 (9-0) 5. ELKHART – 22-1 (8-0) 6. TROY – 20-2 (10-0) 7. MELISSA – 18-5 (8-0) 8. NEW WAVERLY – 20-2 (7-1) 9. SUNNYVALE – 16-4 (7-0) 10. CENTRAL HEIGHTS – 17-7 (9-0)
  7. Wow. That is a ton of travel for Sunnyvale! Looks like a real tough district.
  8. The Palmer coach took the head coaching job at Red Oak. His assistant has now taken over as the head coach. I'm sure he'll continue the same small ball philosophy (especially now with the new bats) that Johnston had. The catcher at Sunnyvale is a senior this year. He's one of the better high school hitters I've ever seen. I believe they only lost their 6 and 9 hole hitters so I would expect them to be really strong this year. Malakoff can definitely compete with their top two pitchers. If Coach Wisdom can get them to play defense this year, I would think they would be the favorite for the third playoff spot.
  9. Sunnyvale returns 7 starters, and has their entire pitching staff and all state catcher returning. They were decimated by injuries last year so getting everyone back healthy will be huge. I believe Palmer returns 7 starters as well. Now, they did lose their best pitcher but they will be tough as well. I believe these two will be the class of the district again with Eustace, Malakoff, and Scurry battling for third.
  10. Does anyone have any info on their baseball program? I saw they weren't real successful last year but do they have a chance next year? Are they real young or just not very talented? How have they been in the past? Any info would be appreciated.
  11. Edgewood does have a couple of really good pitchers though. I can't believe they lost but really can't believe they gave up 7 runs.
  12. I like your picks but, I gotta go with Sunnyvale in three. Those guys are really swinging the bats well right now. I was listening to the internet broadcast of their game on Friday and the announcer said that 21 of their 31 games this year were against playoff teams. 6 of the 10 non playoff teams were in district. The other 4 were Van, Garland Lakeview, Caddo Mills, and McKinney Christian. That is a pretty battle tested team. I think Franklin would have been the favorite in a one game series. I've heard they have a really good ace. Just one man's opinion.
  13. Palmer vs Troy Single game at Midlothian Sunnyvale vs Franklin Three game series at Kilgore's Driller Park Eustace vs Clifton Single game Location TBA
  14. Eustace 2 Teague 1 (9 innings) -1 gamer Sunnyvale 15 Jewett Leon 5 -3 games
  15. 13-2A Sunnyvale 8-1 Palmer 8-1 Eustace 6-3 Sunnyvale and Palmer play tomorrow for the district championship.
  16. Good possible Bi District matchup with Eustace vs Mildred. Area round could be Sunnyvale/Palmer vs Franklin/Troy. The matchups will be determined by who finishes 1st and 2nd in each district.
  17. Scurry Rosser 13 Red Oak Life 8 Palmer 11 Malakoff 3 Sunnyvale 10 Eustace 0
  18. Actually I made a mistake. Eustace is tied for third with Scurry Rosser and Malakoff at 1-2. Franklin 4 Troy 0
  19. 13-2A t-1. Sunnyvale 3-0 t-1. Palmer 3-0 3. Scurry Rosser 2-1
  20. Sunnyvale deserves to be ranked. They have played a very tough schedule thus far and it only gets tougher from here. Besides Palmer and Eustace in their district, they are playing Highland Park, Bishop Lynch, and Mildred. This to go along with already playing Central Heights, Edgewood, Crandall, Harmony, FW Christian, Ponder, 5A Garland Lakeview, and Van to name a few. Their four losses have all come to really good teams and they have had key players injured all year. They also got 4 starters real late due to basketball. They beat 3A state ranked Crandall (3Abaseball.com) 17-4 on Saturday and scored 33 runs in their first district game on Tuesday. I guess I'm a little biased since the team I follow was the one they scored 33 against on Tuesday. lol
  21. I know in the top bracket, Sunnyvale and Edgewood both went 2-0 with their game left to play tonight. Sunnyvale beat Troup 12-0 and Harmony 11-1. Edgewood beat Troup 9-8 and Harmony 7-2. Central Heights beat Palmer 5-3 and Mildred beat New Diana 4-2, in extra innings. Not sure about any other results.
