Gilmer looked average against the worst team in the history of Tatum since integration and Tatum had about 6 turnovers in that game. Who beat who and by how much isn't anywhere close to an exact science, but that doesn't sound like a dominant, best in the state team to me. Center could easily win this game if Gilmer takes them for granted. It's going to be a good one and I'll be there.

The codistrict champ thing that Carthage claims MAY be a technicality only designed to make the loser feel better about themselves but they aren't district champions. If you don't get the first seed because you lost head to head with the true winner, you are not a champion anything. End of everybody gets a trophy BS story. The big 12 is ridiculous as well along those same lines.

You don't mow the turf in your yard, only the grass part of the turf. That is why people say "mow the grass". Unless you know of someone that mows up the roots and all like my teenagers :-)

Real, natural sod or natural grass is called turf fyi. It's just something that irritates me...people calling artifical grass turf. Turf is turf, artificial turf is artifical!!! ok, rant over!

The term skill position is just a football term for backs and receivers. It's not derogatory in anyway, or at least, not meant to be. There are many cases to where the best guy on the team or the most "skilled" is a lineman. Gladewater last year and LE this year are good examples. The point is that Tatum is in shambles from a personnel availability standpoint for various reasons. The JV has only lost three very close games this year and dominating a few others due to their excellent oline, despite having the majority of their best players moved to varsity. The JV and freshman class could win it all in two years and that's not hyperbole. But that's only IF they can keep kids together and available.

I tried to tell everybody the forecast will change for Friday night...it always does. You're better off having a rain prediction that far out than not because it always changes to the opposite haha!

I hope you're right, but it's hard for a mummy to come alive. Only 6 of the original starting 22 remain and virtually none are at skill positions.

The forecast will change again by tomorrow. By Thursday evening, we should have a good idea about the weather for Friday night. It would still be better just to have homecoming and the game Thursday, no?

Hard to believe Shelbyville won't roll but Beckville has a puncher's chance no doubt. Beckville is nobody's punk this year that's for sure. 35-21 Shelbyville is my call.

As of last Friday night post game at Center, 19 players (mostly starters) were inactive due to injury or suspension. At my count, only four seniors remained, none at skill positions and only two starters. Four sophomores that were not even on the varsity depth chart at the start of the season played nearly every snap of the game at Center. There are no excuses and no moral victories in football, but this is still hard to swallow. Remaining players seem to be discouraged, which may be understandable at such as volatile age, but my Eagles can't lose heart! These are the times that try men's souls and they must remember that true character is displayed in times of hardship and adversity, not in times of comfort and success. Let's get this one at homecoming boys! It's time to play with a chip on your shoulder! The future is bright but let's seize the day come Friday! GO EAGLES!!!!
