  1. Well, from past success I am assumming everyone will be expecting a State Championship. Don't see it happening again. They have made it look easy in the past, but in reality it has been a lot of hard work and some good fortune. At least the Gilmer vs Carthage matchup is a guarantee. SHould be an exciting game. I think 4 rounds, which would be a great season in itself.
  2. If you are going to measure the new coach in Bullard with wins and losses, he will not be successful. He should be measured by his ability to create a positive athletic environment where EVERY program has the best chance at winning. If he is smart (which I don't know the AD/HC), IMO he will put more into the other programs in the beginning than expecting to make the Football program be successful at all costs. Bullard needs a good PR campaign by the new AD. Most AD/HC's come in trying to change their sport, but the AD part should be the first priority. It will take a great leader to do this. Best of luck.
  3. great program! highly respected, but most of their kids are straight basketball, i.e. in the gym everyday. Football will have it's effects on them, give it 4 or 5 years. It is a lot easier to start the school year off focusing on basketball than ending football season and the next day playing a basketball game. The basketball program will suffer, but the kid's now have an opportunity to play football, where before they did not.
  4. Cayuga has had superior quickness and speed on the court, that is a fact. But that alone will not will state. Thought Cayuga and Bronte was both well coached. Both coaches coached to the strength of their teams, which is smart. In the end though, and i think most coaches will agree, talent plays a big part in winning and the Yuga train has a ton of talent. How many 1A's in the state are signing multiple kids to Division I scholarships? Is Cayuga winning state in football and then basketball more related to being talented or well coached... My opinion is that it is mostly talent, with good coaching to go along with it. Congrats to the Yuga train and the coaches. Well deserved.
  5. have to agree. Yates is no different from a lot of the other great teams... basketball, football etc... There was a lot of people their to see them also. They have a lot of talent and have beat some really good schools in doing it. Recruiting is a cheap argument nowadays. A lot of schools do it..and sometimes it is not the schools, but the kids.. They want to play for a chance to win state...Yates you can say did it... But what about the Celina's in football over the years, the Gilmer's (they did have a QB and WR move in..win state or not, it was the thought), Southlake's... What about the Winnsboro girls basketball.. bet they have never had move in's.. but they are always viewed as a great program.. and they have beaten some people very badly. If you don't agre with the way they win, understand... but I also understand the flip side to that coin. They had to play 4 hard fought quarters to win state (props to Lancaster)... just maybe playing hard the other 33 games made the difference.
  6. agree. Cayuga should win 1A in dominate fashion... 2A would be a stretch, considering the Ponder's, even though they would have a chance... 3A...I would say with out a doubt, NO. They would be a really, really good 3A team, don't get me wrong.. But the Dallas Madison's, Ranchview's, L-E's, Hardin-Jefferson's, Silsbee's, Cleveland's, Prosper's, Kennedale's, Mexia's, etc.. would be tough. Honestly, I think a Dallas Madison might be 20 points better, maybe not though.
  7. I said man-handled, and it looks like that is what happened just from the score.. I thought Tatum was in way over their head, but wow.. Was not at the game... Was Crockett physical like I thought they would be? What was the difference?
  8. Tatum will be man handled on the inside. Lee is 6'6 260+ but his back up is 6'4" about 320. They both can play. Hope tatum wins but Crockett is physical and quick. Should be a great game. Good luck.
  9. Gilmer OC would not have the same caliber of players that Gilmer suits up... Not sure it would be a good fit... How about finding a coach at the 2A or 3A level that has won with the same caliber of player's at Van. Not a lot of speed or size.
  10. who have they lost to this year? Also, does Brookhill have any players on their basketball team that previously were at Whitehouse. I was told some moved from Whitehouse to there? Did not think this was the case. Not starting a spin off thread here, so please don't go there. just trying to validate hear say.
  11. Compete? You are blind.. They gave L-E all they wanted for 3 quarters while being totally outclassed. What has the coach not been working on in practice? How has he not been developing the players? Don't throw those statements out there and not have the whole story. you are stirring the pot trying to get a coach fired. Have you been to one practice this year? Maybe sometimes it is not the coach, but rather the kids he/she gets to choose from. This is not college ball, the coaches don't get to choose their athletes.
  12. brownsboro over Glen Rose 39-30. Bullard got beat by Kennedale, like 64-59. and Crandall is beating Van late in the game. Kennedale will play in the championship vs van/crandall winner. Bullard will get van/crandall loser. Nice tourney with some great teams.
  13. That was my point!! they have been really good! But some believe they are trying to tear that success down to make football good... The tearing has started... The best coach bullard basketball had left! And he left a lot of great players... Hmmmm...
