Yet another example of how religion, like statistics, can be swayed to mean whatever you want it to mean.

It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. However, it is NOT impossible. This statement by our Savior means that the rich have a much harder time entering in the straight gate because of the distractions from the WORD that their riches tend to cause.

As I've said in other threads, religion is man made and therefore fatally flawed and doomed to fail. It is too easy to bend and twist it to say what you want it to say.

Back on topic:

Taxes per gallon of gas:

Federal Tax - 18.4 cents

Texas State Tax- 20 cents . . .

That's 38.4 cents tax per gallon in Texas

In New York, state tax on gasoline is something like 45 cents per gallon on top of 18.4 cents federal tax

...........................

Oil Company Profit = between 10-15 cents per gallon

Who's gouging who?

I remember last year after the Hurricanes several states suspended their state sales tax on gasoline. Unfortunately, Texans had no such luck.

Another ridiculous cost associated with gas is all the different regional refinement formulations and distribution requirements dictated by EPA regulations . . . all added to the price at the pump! We need to streamline the process and increase refinement capacity ASAP. We need to also rethink some of the most costly EPA regulations.

Congress also needs to repeal the last federal tax hike imposed by the greedy Clinton administration. :w00t:

You would think that the Media would be all over the tax thing....

But instead... the media is into PROFIT IS EVIL mode...

When the oil companies make a profit margin that would get me fired!!

Our minimum is 3X what Exxon was and Exxon was above the Oil Industry Average!!

That's because most of them are socialists, and any profit making is evil to them. The oil companies provide a LOT of jobs to a LOT of people, keeping them off the welfare rolls. This is a good thing. We never hear this part of the story.

yeah, all in the media are socialists. They want to eat our children and burn our homes down.

How is profit making an evil to them? News media have to make profits as well. They are a business. Media is a business. So are you saying your anti-business?

No one is saying that making a profit is wrong. But when its $40 Billion and your still saying you have to raise prices to make a profit, then something is wrong.

Yeah I love how Liberals who usually dump on the bible, cherry pick it as well.

actually the only people who dump on the Bible that I know are non-Christians, not liberals or conservatives. Republicans exploit the Bible more than Democrats, because the Democrats don't refer to the Bible as much.

Just putting things into context of the overall picture, something the liberal media and democrats aren't doing. They would have you think the price of gasoline is the sole responsibility of "big oil". I'm just trying to educate some of you nieve liberal leaning youngsters to the truth. And as for your comment about the media being a business, you are correct. They should be reporting the news, all of it without slanting everything against the oil business and the Bush administration. It shouldn't be their business to take sides and "create" news to influence opinion one way or the other. Gone are the days of a family sitting around the TV in the evening and hearing a fair reporting of the news. It's a shame but that's where we find ourselves today.

And we are STILL ignoring the fact that a huge number of American's are employed by the oil companies.....:hmmm: The lefties are making the same arguments that they were making in their war on Wal-Mart on here a few short months ago. Big oil AND Wal-Mart employ many Americans and provide them with their living. That in itself is enough to make them good in my viewpoint. I don't care if they continue to make their huge profits and to employ the citizens of this nation that work for them. I have no problem with it at all.

Nobody was lined up to pay any extra money when Oil was $10 a barrel.... and oil companies were going belly up...

If Gas had kept up with inflation since 1950 what would it cost a gallon?

Is the the dollar amount that you guys have a problem with on the profit?

MARGIN is how you compare companies..... and the oil industy is WAY below most....

Be consistent.... when folks in the oil patch are being laid off due to a bust in the industry I expect you to lead the pack and put up the money to help them get their families back up and running!!!

What "oil patch" are you talking about? If you are referring to East Texas, you would know that it is all based on natural gas. And that won't be running out anytime soon. East Texas should be building an economic infrastructure to safeguard against that if it ever happens. But even if it does, we will all be long gone by then.

The Democrats exploit the Bible much more than Republicans, ever seen how Democrats flock to the church during election time?

I'm kinda stupid.... But, if we (people) keep buying it at $2.80-$3.00 per gallon... quite simply... they'll keep selling it at that price... We're talking about markets.... Supply and Demand.... Demand is way too high and the companies are taking advantage of it...... Quit using the stuff or threaten immediate alternatives and the demand will lessen, thus lessening price... I just don't see any of that happening so get used to high gas prices....

I have mixed emotions about the high gas prices. On the one hand I hate the fact of paying almost $3 a gallon to fill up the car. But on the other hand I love the price of oil these days since I work in the oil & gas industry. It gives me job security for the forseeable future.
