  2. Does 1 kid play 11 positions or are there 10 others on the field with him? There are many stories behind why he moved and then there is the truth. Let the you nd man play and enjoy his senior year!
  3. It is a tough situation in smaller schools. 7 of our varsity cheerleaders are also volleyball players. The volleyball and football schedule are different in 7 of our 10 games. Granted the kids have a choice in what they particate in but why punish the kids that wants to "do it all" by having everything in opposite locations? Parents who want to will make it work!
  4. Game Day!!!! My opinion of tonight's matchups. Center @ Waskom If Waskom's coaches do not get greedy then the 2nd string puts up as many as the 1st. Waskom by 40. Mineola @ Elysian Fields Mineola should score early but EF scores early and late. EF by 2 scores. Harleton @ West Rusk This game should be a battle until the end. I give Harleton a slight edge winning by less than 5. Paul Pewitt @ Arp PP has a lot of injuries. The will come out and hit Arp in the mouth early but Arp pulls away in the 2nd half. Arp by 3 scores. Hawkins @ Winona Hawkins should spread the ball around but Winona runs to a victory in a close game. Troup @ Rusk Troup may still be trying to put things together early. Rusk may just be a little too much. Rusk by 2 scores. Jefferson @ New Diana Jefferson will go right at ND and will have a speed advantage but lost their RB to injury. ND returned their all district QB and WR along with the OL and a lot of playmakers on defense. ND by less than 10. Grand Saline Vs. Frankston @ TMF Rose Stadium in Tyler on Saturday Frankston returned everything but a library book this year. The returning experience and offensive weapons will be too much. Frankston by 20. Next weeks Matchups. Waskom @ Paul Pewitt Elysian Fields @ Jefferson West Rusk @ Union Grove Arp @ Hughes Springs Winona @ Grand Saline Troup @ Alto New Diana @ Tyler Grace Sabine @ Frankston
  5. 1. Waskom it would take something major to fall. 2. New Diana all dist. QB&WR, all st. LB, and both lines return all but 1. Solid. 3. EF QB is amazing and backs look good. Matured well 4. Arp lots if speed and a great rb. May lose a couple very close games to fall to 4. 5. Frankston returns a bunch but is it enough 6. Troup lost too much talent to make the playoffs in this district 7. Winona great rb but needs more 8. West Rusk may surprise Troup or Winona Tough district that could see 1 score change any of 2-5. This should be a fun and exciting year. Good luck to all!
  6. ND lost a very good TB. WB, and a receiver. All 3 replacements were varsity players last year. The receiver was all-district. Their should not be much of a drop off in production.
  7. Very good scrimmage. Tenaha Back broke some long runs through arm tackles. The moved the some some but mostly stopped with exception of those 2 long plays. ND moved the ball well passing and running. QB ran for 1st score on a read play. Second was a busted coverage to the TE. The OL and DL played big. ND had a pick 6 blown dead for rules of scrimmage. QB had another run called back on a questionable block in the back. (Refs have to learn too). Both teams looked good but appeared ND was a little bit better on this day.
  8. I say Troup gives up 380 points and scores 195. That sets thing up for a losing record or some very bad blowouts!
  9. Not argueing much but don't forget the ND QB threw for over 1100 yards last year too.
  10. As a parent let me tell you a story about concussions. My son was playing varsity football as a freshman. I was called to the locker room at halftime of a game. When I got there my son did not know who I was or even what the coach handed him to drink. It was a can of soda. We had to open it for him because he didn't know how. I took him to the hospital in Longview. We were transported by ambulance to Shreveport. During this ride he looked at everything like a child in a new place. He had no clue what was going on or who was around him. As a parent my heart sank looking at him and knowing he didn't know who I was. He was admitted to the pederiac Neuro ICU. After 3 days he slowly began to regain some memory. After 5 days, most of his memory was back. He was then discharged. He lost all memory from the about 2 weeks leading up to the date of injury. This was in October and he did not play anything until January when he was released to play basketball. In February he got another concussion playing basketball by hitting his head on the court. Again and ambulance ride and no memory for 3 days. Same recovery as the 1st time. Now as a junior he still has not recovered all of his memory from past events. He has reoccurring headaches and on occasion a studder when he gets excited. As a parent, I understand the results of concussions and agree with trying to teach the kids as much as possible by a trained coach before they start contact.

Sabine pitching had a rough night throwing strikes and when the ball was put in play it got booted around in the infield. New Diana took advantage of the walks and errors. Tomorrow is a new game and the two will go at it again. Anything can happen! Good game Eagles and good luck to both teams tomorrow.
  15. Congrats to White Oak and New Diana for being Co-District Champions! W O will be the 1st seed and ND is the 2 nd seed. Good luck to both teams!!!
