Some are saying that he could possibly be gone after next year, but he'll stick around the program and take over for Dodds when he decides to retire. Funny thing is, after having such a successful season so far this year, Mack has said all along that he thinks next year's team will be the best team since 2005! Would be nice to see Mack leave on good terms like that!

There was rumors of this when he agreed to come to Texas, that he was going to receive a 'Jimbo Fisher' deal. Jimbo Fisher was the offensive coordinator at LSU and now at FSU and will succeed Bobby Bowden. Great for Texas! This ensures that Applewhite will stick around too, possibly the offensive coordinator when Greg Davis decides to leave. Applewhite is the reason for Colt's success, not Davis

Jerrod Johnson moved ahead of Gary Kubiak and Dustin Long and set the school record with his 20th touchdown pass of the season. First off, it's only 20 TDs and he didn't even start the season at QB. Second, how does he set that record and A&M be 4-7 on the year? That's just funny to me.

What else did Gardere do? NOTHING! 5-6 in 1989, 10-2 in 1990, 5-6 in 1991, and 6-5 in 1992. You can take Gardere off your list! Only winning QBs in the modern football era that should be on any top QB list are Applewhite, VY and Colt

In 2001, #4 Nebraska was chosen as the national title opponent despite not having even played in the Big 12 championship game. The Huskers went into their last regularly scheduled game at Colorado undefeated, but left Boulder at the short end of a 62-36 loss. Colorado went on to win the Big 12 championship game against Texas. However, the BCS computers didn't take into account time of loss, so one-loss Nebraska came out ahead of two loss Colorado and one-loss, second-ranked Oregon. Jesse Palmer of ESPN is already predicting a Texas/Florida National Championship! That means he's predicting OU beating Texas and that Texas will hold its BCS ranking and win the three way tie for the Big 12 South representation in Kansas City for the Big 12 Championship against Mizzou. As much as I don't like Jesse Palmer, it would be nice.... BOOMER SOONER

They respect that Texas held them way under their season point average, they don't respect how OU put up 435 yards on Texas and Tech 579 yards.

I like Jeremy Maclin, not because he such a great player, but he has a good story behind him... I think you'd be stupid not to include Crabtree. I still chuckle at the thought that Texas passed on him for Robert Joseph!

Ever since Obama was elected, people have been sending racist Obama text message jokes, and Burnette posted one on his facebook page. He has since deleted his facebook account. I think it's pretty minor to kick someone off the team, especially when other players break the law and don't get kicked off the team, but I know that Obama visited the team when he and Hilary had a debate in Ausitn and Mack and Sally Brown are big Obama supporters.

Texas sophomore center Buck Burnette has left the Longhorns because of a violation of team rules. Coach Mack Brown just issued a statement on Burnette. However, there were no specifics on what rule Burnette violated.

Austin High receiver Emory Blake, one of the most highly recruited football players in Central Texas, has commited to Texas Tech. Blake was recruited highly by Texas, but with slim scholarships available, they were asking him to grey shirt (come to Texas and pay his own way his first semester and Texas would offer full scholarship the next semester). Blake had said he did not like the idea and wanted to go somewhere where he received a full scholarship. Texas had been focussed more on Greg Timmons of Aldine and didn't recruit Blake until later. Big pickup for Tech. I guess the Tech/Texas game had an effect on his decision...

Ron Prince apparently is resigning as the Kansas State football coach less than three seasons into an attempt to return the program to national prominence.

ORAKPO will sit out this week because of a sprained knee. Quan Cosby has a hurt back and will also sit out. Ogbonnaya hurt his ankle that had been bother him, so expect Whittaker to take most of the snaps at RB to get more repetition since he's been the most exciting RB this season, even with limited action. Expect a lot of young players on both sides of the ball get a lot of playing time this week. Texas does need convincing wins the rest of the season if they plan on getting back into the NC talk with the help from other teams.

I think Texas will take out their anger on Baylor. Don't be suprised to see Whittaker taking most of the snaps at RB. Cosby won't be playing, so look for another big game from Malcom Williams, and maybe another young fish to step up and make big plays. Defensively, look for players like Eddie Jones, Henry Melton, Ben Alexander and Kheeston Randall get a lot of time on the DL. If Texas can get back into the NC talk with the help of other teams, they'll need to dominate the next three games to keep from being over taken by Florida and possibly OU Texas by a lot....

Every school in Texas considers Texas as a rival. I'd say Tech is a rival, but not as big as A&M. Everyone knows TX/OU is one of the top 3 rivalries in football with OSU/Michigan and Army/Navy. I don't consider Tech a big rival, but I guess you can call it that

Yeah, I saw that. Maybe he was thinking they needed to conserve time for them not thinking about Tech getting the ball back. Either way, the game shouldn't have come down to that. I remember in 2003 when Chance Mock hooked up with Roy Williams for 54 yards on the game winning drive. Roy lost his balance after the catch, but had he not fallen, Tech would've had plenty of time to score. Tech got the ball with 46 seconds and moving 53 yards to the Texas 31 yard line with five seconds remaining. However, a Keith Toogood field goal attempt was wide left and the Longhorns held on for the victory 43-40. There sure are a lot of 'what ifs' from this game...

Yes, you can! If you call a fair catch on a punt and the ball bounces and you pick it up, you can't run with the ball. If the Texas player who picked up the ball had called fair catch, no time off the clock and ball where he picks it up.

Anything can happen in the SEC, especially if the game is being played in Baton Rouge. If LSU can get good play out of whichever QB plays, then it could be a good game. I hope for an LSU win, even though I'm not a fan of Les Miles. One loss Big 12 team has a better chance for a NC chance than a one loss SEC this year. I can at least hope!

Ok State is the best team I've seen Texas play all year. They're better than OU and all around better than Tech. A team that balance will give Tech fits, especially if they can control the clock. No way Tech plays the way they did the first half against Texas again this year. I though they played over their heads with a lot of adrenaline and passion, but to play at that level again is asking a lot. Ok State in a close one

Blake Gideon is from Leander.... You put pads on and get out there and see how 'easy' it is to catch a tipped pass why diving in the air. Stuff happens, but the game shouldn't have come down to that. Don't talk trash about someone like that; he played a great game! Would've been nice if he could've closed the game out with the TO, but oh well. Why aren't you talking trash about Colt's interception he threw in the third? Had he not thrown the interception, Texas could've won! Texas was picked the finish third in the Big 12 South with losses to OU and Tech, and Texas was also picked to lose to Mizzou! They'll be fine. As long as they take care of business, they'll be in a BCS game in either the Rose or Sugar Bowl (hopefully Sugar since it's closer). If things work out they way they could, Texas can still find themselves in the Big 12 Championship. I don't see Tech beating both Ok State and in Norman against OU. I believe Ok State's the best team Texas has faced this year, not Tech. Tech came out to play, and I think were a little over their heads. No way they play like that again this year. I think Texas is the better team, Tech just played better when the time came.

Expect Tech to receive a hefty fine by the Big 12 for the fans.... You can get excited about winning a game, but comon, that was ridiculous!!!

If three or more teams are tied, steps 1 through 7 will be followed until a determination is made. If only two teams remain tied after any step, the winner of the game between the two tied teams shall be the representative. 1. The records of the three teams will be compared against each other 2. The records of the three teams will be compared within their division 3. The records of the three teams will be compared against the next highest placed teams in their division in order of fi nish (4, 5 and 6) 4. The records of the three teams will be compared against all common conference opponents; 5. The highest ranked team in the first Bowl Championship Series Poll following the completion of Big 12 regular season conference play shall be the representative 6. The team with the best overall winning percentage [excluding exempted games] shall be the representative 7. The representative will be chosen by draw. Say OU, Tech and Texas have one loss at the end of the regular season, it'll come down to #5 who's ranked higher in the BCS. Should be interesting who represents the South in the Big 12 Championship if there's three one loss teams at the end.

Tech will most likely be #3. If they can get past OSU next week, then maybe they'll pass Penn State. Texas had a tough 4 games, and it showed tonight. They were beat up all over the field. I still think Ok State is the best team Texas has played this year. Ok State in Lubbuck and at Norman the following week. Should be interesting.
