BigRedFan
In all classifications, who is the best team that has taken to the court in East Texas. I have my ideas but will not comment until all the nominations have been posted.

C-towneagle08
Canton's girl are one of the best in east texas. 16-1. they have won 3 tournaments this season and have beat some good competition.
baseballfan29
Have to agree. Canton's girls have a good chance of going all the way!
Wiseman76
Mt. Pleasant girls have knocked off some ranked teams and found themselves ranked at #11 last week. Another win last night over Pleasant Grove put them at 14-3. Keep playing good ball MP!!!
BigRedFan
Let me clarify what I was asking. This could be a present team as well as a past team that has taken to the court. One team that could have won no matter what classification that they played.
bandnerd_chas
Tatum Girls are doing an amazing job so far this year. They have lost only 2 games so far this year I believe. And they won a tourney. I'm not sure which one. Tatum sports in general this year are looking pretty good for girls and boys.
68Hornet
I can't remember the year, but Longview's state championship team several years ago would have to rank as the best. I know Winnsboro has had some great teams. I think this year's L-E team is the best it has had, yes better than those Aarica Ray and Jamila Ganter played for. This team is deeper. Unfortunately, they'll have trouble getting past second round because Kennedale is awesome this year.
CAPTTIGER
the longview girls team from mid 80's led by angela lawson.....that team had some.............that team was loaded.......angela went on to be an all-american at la tech and win a national championship.....i believe they were ranked high in the national polls
rosenblatt3
The Winnsboro teams with Stacey Stephens were unbelievable, but I'd have to go with either Duncanville a few years back or the Mansfield team that won 3 or 4 straight.

BeyondTheArc
Longview's back to back teams of 1983 & 84 finished 77-1 with the only loss being a one point loss to Houston Yates finishing 38-1 and ranked #3 in the USA TODAY NATIONAL POLL. The 84 team went 39-0 and was named the National Runnerup. Both teams led the country in scoring offense at over 80 points per game.
pantherpaw2006
Shelia Daughtrey's North Lamar Pantherettes had 17 consecutive playoff seasons...and I believe won 10 district titles in that run...the pre-season games against Winnsboro were always worth the price of admission as the Hawkin's led Lady Raiders were most impressive...two awesome teams! BTW, Shelia went on to be enshrined in the TAMU-C Coaches Hall of Fame with over 400 wins in her career...20+ win seasons were the norm for her!!! Not bad for a Canada native! sackem
What about the girls from Hughes Springs? anybody seen them?
68Hornet
Hughes Springs has an excellent team, two very good players. Two of its losses have been to Liberty-Eylau. I would have to rank Winnsboro and Clarksville a little bit ahead of the Lady Mustangs, but they are very good.
sharkb8er
I read the paper this morning where the Leopards handled their opponent rather easily. What size school is Rain? Where is that at?

Four of the 5 starters(Lawson,Crooks, Brooks,Jimmerson) were all Division 1 signees in college. From 1980 until 1989, the Lady Lobos were 289-30. They were the winningest program in Girls B-Ball; in the nation.
BigRedFan
Rains is a consolidated school in Emory not to far from Greenville on 69. It is located about half way between Mineola and Greenville. Rains is a medium size 3a school.

It is the only time I have been to the state tournament. The state final game was never close. It was an amazing group of girls that played so well together as a team. BigRedFan
Was Tommy Aldridge coach of that team? If not, who was the coach?
Hondo#17
Yes, he was the coach. Technically, Tommy Aldredge is the the only coach the Lady Lobos have ever had. Kinda like they used to say about Tom Landry and the Cowboys.
