  1. besides longview in our district having the most i think thigh had the 2nd most with hallsville the least
  2. WHO IS GONNA LOCK AND LOAD? tatum of course! gonna win state!
  3. this should be '2nd best running back'. hasty everyone else
  4. no coincidence these are all great teams. great teams=great fan support
  5. stupid. austin is the capital of the state. if you arent playing in jerryworld play in the capital. enough said. dont play in an abandoned second rate stadium. support the kids and let them play in nice, new facilities.
  6. Don't have a dog in the fight here but I can remember when mp baseball was a joke. Coaches running in and out of the program and kids being unprofessional. Seems like this last coach completely changed that. mp was a fierce team and very well coached. Also, when they came to our house you could see their team mindset and supporting each other. From the outside looking in mp totally changed their program from a mess to an extremely competitive baseball team.
  7. Tatum destroying folks is nothing new. They could beat our team too
  8. Wondering about any select softball teams for my daughters?
  9. NB lost lots of defensive players this year. it will be interesting to see how the lions recover.
  10. Who is MP Chapel Hill? Only Chapel Hill I know was in Tyler?
  11. " don't think they'll be world beaters at all, but I also don't think that 4th spot is completely out of arms reach of them either. And that's only IF they can find some defense. 25 PPG the past two years in district play. Yeah..I know it isn't elite numbers but there was a point in time when PT wasn't getting anywhere near close to that. They have some skill players coming back + a new HC who has had plenty of success with high powered offenses....might be something to build on offensively anyway. " I think the same. Hallsville had some of the best talent I've ever seen come out of that school last year. I think they fall back to earth. PT is rising guys. There is an argument to be made that puts PT as just a desirable school to go to as Hallsville. Might not be this year but I feel its coming...
  12. True. Thomas showed flashes last year but sometimes I thought it was after Walker broke down the offense and Thomas could come in and relieve on 1st downs primarily.
  13. You might be right my friend. I think we can all agree on one thing judging from our analysis: hallsville is not a playoff team.
  14. That's crazy. Just know I have another thing now to fear about Longview lol. I had no idea King had a son. How old is he? I imagine that 7 on 7 team could beat some jv teams maybe even varsities. :yelp:
  15. check this to be sure im right: 2014-2015 *current 2015-2016 *current ---New Alignment--- 2016-2017 *new I 2017-2018 *new II ---New Alignment--- 2019-2020 *new II 2020-2021 *new II So conceivably, the only grades that would coincide with 'new I' would be current 2014-2015 7th graders. And in 'new II' this would be the current 2014-2015 5th graders. I'm assuming I'm right that realignment is every two years? Might be off by a grade but overall thats how it shapes up. Of course, if every other school pop rises it wont matter as the cutoff numbers would rise as well.
  16. Totally agree. It would throw a huge wrench into the 5A level if these teams advanced, lots of wins would be up for grabs.
  17. Gonna be a fun year that's for sure. Longview- Enough said. THIGH- I'm quite amazed at how many people forget the year THIGH has last year. Norton deserves lots of credit for putting together the stifling defense and operating on offense with far less talent than in years past. I look for THIGH to convincingly lock up the number 2 spot. I've been very impressed with Norton and how he changes to utilize or current players. This is the same guy who had Vasher, Mallet, and Hamilton. I heard this in the stands from a fan and its stays with me: "Ain't no Vashers or Hamilons on this team!" It's sad but true. If our defense improves or even stays the same, our team can be dangerous in the playoffs. It's gonna be the D and not the O that makes a difference. In years past, Longview and THIGH would be a dogfight. Longview is a staple of Texas football and I hope they bring some validity to a losing district from a state perspective. SS- Aside from THIGH and Longview, SS will when every other district game. Hallsville is not even close and Marshall is closer but still no cigar. With stud players returning for SS, they could make it tough for THIGH but I dont see much changing in a years time. SS should be more worried about Marshall. Marshall- Harper is making great progress even as the community fails to support their school. These kids play the Marshall way. The old way where they line up and hit you in the mouth. I could see SS and Marshall squaring off and Marshall coming away with a win through grinding SS down. As an outsider looking in I really like Marshall and will be fascinated to see how much they improved or whether their development pauses. Pine Tree- That's right I said it. I think Pine Tree beats Hallsville this year. With little to no threat from MP and Hallsville, PT is the biggest challenger for the 4th spot. I don't see Pine Tree beating Marshall at all. However, if Marshall writes Pine Tree off this could be a big upset. I think PT finally shook off the issues from last year and are ready to launch. Not saying they will make playoffs, I don't think they will, but teams like Hallsville, MP, and Marshall, will have to be on the lookout after penciling in a victory in year's past. Hallsville- If you watched Hallsville last year you know that the players that left wont be replaced. And that's an ugly truth for Hallsville. Word is Hallsville is only working out or opening the weight room 1 day a week. Not sure as to the validity but if so, I know Marshall and PT are working harder than that. Hallsville had a good run in last alignment overall, but now big brother is in town and times might get a little darker. MP- While the injury bug caught MP in a bad spot last year, until MP proves it deserves to be counted with the big boys they will remain below Pine Tree and close to Greenville. This is more of a statement on the status of PT now with their new stadium and coach than it is MP. With the pool of athletes available in Longview area and the new championship caliber coach, if I were a student or parent in PT I would be excited. That said, I think the sturggles of MP are different. Numbers are becoming a problem. On some occasions, this team couldn't field a JV last year. Let me repeat, this team couldn't field a JV. If just getting kids out is an issue, playoffs could become an afterthought. Better times are ahead for MP but not this year, and probably not next. After loosing some of the best talent in ETX, the JV which could barely field a team last year steps up to the plate. It could/will get ugly. Greenville- I realize not winning since 09 is a horrible fact. But if your at the bottom, not much room left but to go up. Greenville will win a district game in this alignment, the question is: how soon? LONGVIEW- 7-0 THIGH- 6-1 (Longview) SS- 5-2 (THIGH and Longview) Marshall - 4-3 (THIGH, Longview, SS) Pine Tree - 3-4 (THIGH, Longview, SS, Marshall) Hallsville - 2-4 (THIGH, Longview, SS, Marshall, Pine Tree) MP- 1-6 (THIGH, SS, Longview, Marshall, Pine Tree, Hallsville) Greenville - 0-7
  18. Could you ever envision an alignment where JT, LVIEW, and THIGH are all 6A? It seems like each of these areas is experiancing rapid growth in the 3-6 grades now. With the next realignment I wonder if the large numbers of these 3-6 grades turn into high attendance numbers on down the road?
  19. by next realignment john tyler and longview will both be 6A in my opinion.
  20. what would be some of the reasons an affluent family sends their kid to lee and not private? does uil sports have an effect? jw
