Is D J Larry's son?

It sounds as if Huntington doesn't have a weight room (or adequate weight room) or an athletic period. That equates to lack of interest and support by the community. I have friends from Huntington and the only time I have ever heard them mention sports was when they talked about Huntington winning in state in basketball back in the 50's. It would take a majority of strong board members, the superintendent and H. S. principal and a very focused and charismatic coach three years to turn it around. I doubt that will happen anytime soon. In four decades the board hasn’t came through. I would be hard to find an administrator who would base their future on that program and you couldn’t hire the coach if the first two wasn’t in place.

The supt at Tatum never worked for the last AD's dad. He hired Andy Evans because he was a very capable coach. I believe AE was burnt out. It happens very often. Barker is a much better selection for Tatum ISD. It might take him a couple of years but the ball will be rolling.

This issue was not an embarrassment for Tatum ISD. The Board/Superintendent relationship is good. A disagreement over one individual doesn't indicate a ship wreck. Frazier is from the area and may be a great guy; however, his record is pedestrian. I sure most folks in Tatum are expecting a hire that will reflect a degree of success. When I looked at the list of applicants I was shocked that Frazier was recommended. Sometimes friendships get in the way of solid decisions. The next coach recommended and hired will be a rational choice.

It was not smart back the spring of 2014 knowing you have no seniors to speak of and you go schedule that schedule.

How has Arp looked during workouts and in their scrimmage. The QB should be a force.

Jim Skinner took over CC in the early 80's and they had been in the playoffs once in 25 to 30 years. He won a state championship and was in the playoffs most of the time. Also, CC was playing up a Division most of those years. If you compare the wins and loses since both left CC it would not be close. Jim Skinner retired this year.

DA, where is Tatum?

Read, how did WO do against Tatum when they played them in MS or 9th grade. WO's current schedule doesn't have an indicator. Use more energy thinking than cutting pasting photos.

Several polls have WO ranked. Based on the performance last season I wonder about them being ranked. How did these guys do against Tatum in middle school and as freshman? I know Tatum was really high on their seniors when they were young (thought haven't played to expectations).

I watched at least six of Tatum's game films last year. They were not good on defense. The defensive talent was extremely weak in some areas. Offensively and defensively they were not well prepared and didn't improve as the year progressed. With that said Tatum will probably beat Newton. Newton never plays extremely well early and improves as the season grows older. In late November Newton will be playing important games and Tatum will be dribbling. Tatum has not played a decent game since midseason in 2013. That year they had the talent to win it all and just quit playing and lost to a team in the playoffs that had one kid that could start for the Eagles. Until Tatum changes their attitude they will not be a regional factor this year or in the future.

I watched Jefferson's chances go up in smoke this afternoon. Even without the one with a pulled muscle the others did not compete well.

Thanks, the friend that told about him said that Tatum was faster than DF before he arrived and he added that Tatum's 400 and 800 relays may not be able to run with them now.
