never met a person who choose to be obese on purpose.Usually happens because of health reasons or bad dieting.And I never met person,if given the choice,would choose to be Obese,if given an easy way to lose weight..Now I understand its hard to lose weight,but I bet every Obese person would rather not be overweight.If a obese person could take a magic pill that would make them skinny in one day(without any consequence),I guarantee almost every Obese person would take that pill immediately.

I think everyone agrees that obesity is not good and recommendations are fine. The trouble with government is they won't stop there. I think we all know where this is going, sin taxes, used to be on tobacco and alcohol they are going to branch out to fast food and snacks. The only thing this will accomplish is getting more money for the government and less in our pockets. The government needs to stay out of people's business. Prohibition worked out fine for big government didn't it.

You see so many programs, so much rehab that folks throw money at and it doesnt work. Hollywierd folks try to rehab all the time with big bucks, and they are so caught up in themselves that they will never humble themselves to getting well. You can scold a fat person all you want, tell him what to eat (I know, and if I crave something, I will slip off to 'DQ for a cone or blizzard, sometimes without my wife) and it aint gonna work. If you'd like me to list more I can. My cousin is a liberal living in New Mexico. She won't even talk to me now, because these articles are reverse racism by the liberals. Her friend is a liberal journalist that wrote one of these types of articles saying that African Americans that attended tea parties were token blacks. I blasted her friend, because in New Mexico the population only has a 3% population of African American's. I invited her to come to Alabama to a tea party, because we have a higher population of African Americans. Of course, I'm the bad guy. What do the liberals expect in certain area's of the country ? It's not like tea parties bus various ethnic groups to these events for political purposes. These are grass root efforts made by people that are fed up with over taxation. Tea Party participants do not care what religion, race, sexuality, or any other label people are. We only care about curbing our Government spending, and lessening the yoke of taxation on our backs.

 

There is no hidden agenda. What the people did in Iowa this past week, was excessive in my opinion. To me it's somewhat of a half truth right now, but it is appearing to be the truth. Socialism has never worked for any country. FDR's socialism is what has created the MESS we are in today !!!

well I see your point.But why do you think Health care is high.Because we have bad prevention on health.We don't tell people to put that 3rd candy bar or 3rd piece of fried chicken down.Then they end up with heart problems,high blood pressure and diabetes.Then because of health problems they can't work,so now they need medicare/medicaid to pay their medical bills.If we would have stop them earlier in the life,it would pay dividends on the back end of their life and save tax payers money.

 

Its funny how people preach alcohol prevention,Abstinence to prevent STD and babies,drug prevention,but we shouldn't preach dieting.You know how many people die from heart problems and diabetes because they simply eat bad.And these habits usally start at an early age.I find nothing wrong with telling kids to eat apples instead of snickers.The Gov. isnt putting a gun to anybody head telling them they better eat the apple,but simply making suggestions to prevent future problems.It would save all the tax payers money on health care if we do more prevention in all unhealthy habits.

Sure folks need to do what is good for them. And you know what? We preach it in PUBLIC schools from 1st grade on. Do they listen? No. I am a former tobacco user. Did I listen? No!!

 

Do you know skinny folks with heart problems? Yes you do. Do you know fat folks in their 80's? Yes you do. Lots of health problems are inherited, you cant do anything about it. Back around the turn of the century, folks who werent in good shape died young and the strong survived. Now through good medicine, lots of folks are living, that wouldnt have 50- 100 years ago. They are reproducing, and matter of factly the gene pool is going down (My theory anyway).

 

My Grandpa ate biscuits and red eye gravy and bacon and sausage and real butter every day. But he got up and worked all day, and lived to be very, very old. Again, we have created an environment where we do not get enough exercise. Are we going to legislate that? We try to. Ever taught a P.E. class where 3/4s of the kids dont want to do a thing?

 

Should we turn folks away from hospitals ? No, we dont and havent even before obama care. Can or should a doctor tell a patient that unless you change your behavior (smoking, overeating, drinking, drugs sex with an unhealthy or diseased partner) there is nothing I can do for you----Yes

 

Do I expect the same health care as obama? No, even though he is doing a cruddy job, he is way more important than I and needs better heath care, he just needs to leave ours alone. Do I expect the same health care as Peyton Manning? No. Why? he makes more money and I dont need to be in the same kind of shape he needs to be in, and he can afford it. Bottom line, you cant make everyone equal.

yes, I agree with your points, but alot of times they are exceptions to the rule.A fat person is far more likely to have diabetes,hypertension, and heart problems than an skinny person. Yes,somethings are inherited,but you decrease your chance of getting them if you eat right.If you have a family history of diabetes,it wouldn't be smart to eat doughnuts all the time.You need to be more careful than the next person because you are at higher risk.Doesn't mean you won't get it,but you may get it at a later age therefore adding more yrs to your life.

 

 

And just because you didn't listen to prevention advice doesn't mean people should stop giving you that advice.Young teens don't listen and have sex anyway.Should we just stop telling them the risks?NO!!! we still should give them prevention advice. Its alot of things I didn't listen to too,but that doesn't mean they shouldn't have given me the advice.
