He left Marshall on a 4-1 vote and 2 didn’t vote. Not a great way to get started in Desoto. The heads of Marshall new after they hired him that he wasn’t going to stay. They won with talent. Not because he was a savior of the program. Nobody in this District is any good and that’s why Marshall was the 2 time Dist champs. Believe me when I say this. You play who they put you up against so that’s not a knock on Marshall. I watched 2 games this year. And Mathis is a straight running fool. Not sure how he is away from the field but I’d be glad he is gone. Now do the Higher ups hire within. Or go outside? Be interesting to see. I’m hearing the OC. People want to gripe about how much Surratt makes? If he was a losing coach I can understand but you have the best coach in the State of Texas. Pay him to stay. That’s how it works

There is no way you think Mathis is a great coach???? Motivator yes. But Coach no. I have never seen a Successful Head Coach act the way he does. Marshall deserves better. They should have hired Scott Ford when they had the chance. He does well with minimal talent. Great offense mind. My opinion

I’ve heard a few people mention to me that when the season is over he is going to be Named SFA Head Football Coach. Has anyone else heard this? If this is true I bet he would get this program rolling fast. With all his ties to East Texas. Also if it happened it would snowball a few head coaching jobs to open. Tyler lee Gilmer maybe Waskom. Maybe Jacksonville. All have ties with Jeff. Could get interesting

I’ve watched Newton three times this year. They will not get beat. They are playing with better athletes than all of 3a and I’d say better than 4a. Maybe not Carthage. But I bet is it close
