  1. Poor execution & poor play calling......making PT's defense look like world beaters.....
  2. Would love to see Nac take it....actually would love to see anybody playing WH take it, but unfortunately I think the 'Cats win.....
  3. Manvel went up to D1 ....10-5A D-1 with the Fort Bend D-1 schools......
  4. I'd love to see Nac take this one, but don't think they can handle Rudder......
  5. REL has looked impressive, but against two 5A D1 teams that seem to be a bit down this year (as opposed to normal).....Lobos rediscovered their power running game last week.....they'll dominate time of possession, keeping the REL RB's off the field, and put up enough points to take the W.
  6. Marshall Vs. McKinney North.......Mavs actually make a few tackles and win a close road game. Tyler Vs. Nacogdoches......Lions bring Nac back to reality. Lufkin Vs. Magnolia West....Panthers continue to struggle on the road. Forney Vs. Texas High.....until someone proves different, Tigers continue to roll. Corsicana Vs. Whitehouse.......'Cana is a rude guest. Hallsville Vs. Sulphur Springs......SS is a rude host. Tyler Legacy Vs. Longview.....Lobos rediscovered their power running game....and because they're Longview. Mount Pleasant Vs. Greenville.....Lions slap around the Tigers. Nederland Vs. Jacksonville......Duh.....Nederland.
  7. Not sure what the problem is.....I’m getting the feed fine....unfortunately......
  8. This is sad......just too much size for Longview.....not doing anything fancy, just flat running over the Mavs......
  9. Longview Vs. Marshall.....Mavs kick a long FG at the end, shock the Lobos (hope springs eternal) Tyler Vs. Tyler Legacy.....TL easily Denison Vs. Texas High.....Tigers continue to roll Pine Tree Vs. Crandall......PT defense surrenders a boatload of points, but offense scores more Mt. Pleasant Vs. Sherman.....MP continues a resurgence.....for now Whitehouse Vs. Royse City....WH wins a close one Hallsville Vs. Frisco Memorial (Saturday).....Frisco Memorial, but 'Cats at least give them a game Cleburne Vs. Jacksonville.....Cleburne wins again Nacogdoches Vs. Saginaw Boswell......a moral victory for the Dragons just getting to play, but Boswell wins Lufkin Vs. Nederland - Lufkin remembers how to win, but won't be easy
  10. Lobos are still clearly the favorite....to say anything else is wishful thinking......if the Mavs can keep it relatively close stranger things have happened.
  11. Not only the offsides, but the personal foul penalties hurt.....I believe there were three......as you said, this can be corrected......bottom line, a nice win over a very good NC team......
  12. Yeah, I bought tickets this morning, and it looked like there were still quite a few available.....surprised me as well.
  13. I agree somewhat, but until PT shows they can play something resembling defense, I think they have to be considered a dark horse.....
  14. What has happened to Newton??? Off the skids this week though.....
  15. I don't see 3-4 teams in this district as legit picks for the district championship.....IMO it's Texas High / Marshall as clear favorites, and PT / Whitehouse / Nac / COVID as dark horses.....hopefully COVID gets shut out.
  16. No argument here.....as I mentioned, Marshall is lucky that Mathis wanted to leave, otherwise he'd still have the job, and Coach G would most likely be somewhere else.....and regarding Mathis the motivator, and the double edge sword......he got the kids ready to play (positive) / lack of discipline (negative). My above comments apply here as well......the lack of discipline cost the Mavs dearly, not to mention the questionable play calling (which IMO can be attributed directly to a lack of disciple on the part of Mathis)......and that's not even mentioning the amazing improvements to Maverick facilities (all facilities, not just football) that have taken place since Coach G was named AD as well as HFC......forget the likability factor.....more has been accomplished in the last two years than in the ten previous (and that's being conservative).....Mathis or Griedl? Duh.....
  17. IMO Mathis was a great motivator (although his motivation was a double edged sword) and a mediocre on-field coach due to very questionable play calling / decisions.....no one can argue that he put together a great coaching staff. Coach Griedl is the real deal.....what he has done to improve the athletic facilities (along with Dr. Gibson) is incredible.......he's also changed the culture in a very positive way, and the kids really buy into it....he's also retained / tweaked the staff into just as good or better staff than Mathis put together....and no comparison in the on-field coaching aspect. Things happen for a reason.....Marshall was lucky to get Mathis (agreeing that he never intended to stay) to build somewhat on what Clint Harper started, but Marshall was also lucky that Mathis had a love affair with DeSoto, and were lucky enough to to have a top notch replacement in Jake Griedl waiting in the wings (can't thank Mathis enough for that), and an administration smart enough to put their faith in Jake. Now, the problem is programs around the state see that Coach Griedl is not only an excellent coach, but a high class individual and administrator....we're just praying that we can keep him in the Maverick family for an extended time.
