The debate is not FSU and Texas. FSU is in. The debate is between Texas and Alabama.

If head to head doesn’t matter, why play the game.

You canNOT put Bama in over Texas.

I don’t get saying “FSU is in.” They won a garbage conference. If being unbeaten with a conference championship is all it takes to get in the playoff, why are conferences trying to get stronger instead of weaker? If the playoff is really about having a true national champion that is the best team in the country, then you should want the four best teams in it. Anyone that thinks 2 of the top 4 didn’t play in Atlanta today is smoking crack and shouldn’t be helping choose the field for the playoff.

I agree that the ACC is the weakest conference of the P5’s, but you can’t leave out an undefeated P5 team. If you do, you’re also saying winning your conference, and winning all your games, doesn’t matter.

Then your playoff teams are Michigan, Washington, FSU and Liberty?

The Committee is trapped with the FSU victory today.  Nobody wants to see FSU in the playoff with a Freshman #2 QB that got sacked continually and could not effectively run the offense.  The FSU defense won that game....and it was not a pretty game to watch or a good showing by either team.  IF you took the best 4 teams today, then FSU would have to be left off that list.  But this is a political situation and the committee is now against a wall regardless of their decision.

1. Michigan

2. Washington

3. FSU

4. Texas

That’s what it should be. FSU has an elite defense and beat a rival with their #2 last week and he’ll be back in time for the playoffs. Texas and Bama are the 2 one loss conference champions. Normally you’d have to look at SOS and top 25 wins but here you have direct head to head. Texas gets the last spot.

They played with their #3 Qb tonight. #2 was out with concussion

So the Committee is aware that FSU's starting QB will be back in time......then FSU is certainly IN.  AND like you say....Texas did win the head-to-head against Bama.  They should keep it simple and choose Texas as the 4th team then.

Jordan Travis isn’t coming back.

It's what the Committee assesses is best for the National Playoff.  IF FSU does NOT have their starting QB and he's gone for the rest of the year, then FSU has to be discounted.....IF the Committee truly wants the 4 best teams today.  But you can sorta bet your boots it ain't gonna happen that way.

Liberty isn’t a P5 team.

It makes as much sense as saying that the ACC champ should get in just because they finished unbeaten against a garbage schedule. Truthfully, since most top players opt out of non-playoff bowl games now, the only true comparison we get of conferences is in the playoff, which the SEC has dominated. They’ve won 6 of 9 playoff championships, including the last four. The rest of the country is 3-15 vs the SEC in the playoff. Anyone lobbying to leave the winner of that conference out in favor of a team that they all admit is inferior is just saying they are tired of the SEC winning it every year.

This isn’t Georgia from 2 years ago or even last year. They’re a good top 6/7 team that could beat anyone but be beaten as well.

Just be when you guys start throwing out “best” teams.

Because Georgia would favored to beat any team in the country. Yes even probably the team that just beat them.

Alabama was favored to beat Texas. It didn’t matter.
